EE delays UK LTE SIM-free option after testing drags

UK 4G carrier EE has postponed the launch of its SIM-free plans, frustrating unlocked iPhone 5 owners in the process, after delays in the testing procedure. Originally expected to go live for new sign-ups today, the SIM-free plans will now :be delayed by a few days," EE told Coolsmartphone, pushing the launch back into early next week, though not as bad as the carrier previously warned.

EE reveals 4G pricing: UK LTE from £36/mo

New UK 4G carrier EE has revealed its LTE plans, with a variety of phone and mobile broadband packages as well as some added bonuses each month for subscribers. For regular users, EE will offer monthly plans with unlimited calls and texts, and 500MB of data, for £36 per month; there'll also be 1GB, 3GB, 5GB, and 8GB packages for £41-£56. Under fire from rivals unhappy at it taking the lead, UK 4G network EE has shot back with suggestions that Vodafone and O2 could have been LTE competitive had they planned ahead properly. Speaking at a pre-launch benchmarking session, EE director of network services and device development Tom Bennett dismissed complaints by the carrier's competitors as being selective with the facts, arguing instead that lack of investment is to blame for their being behind.
