, Nov 2nd 2007 Discuss [0]

After seeing the Circuitboard Christmas Ornaments this photo album also caught my eye. This mini photo album may not hold all your favorite photos, but it would be a great addition to your coffee table or your desk to keep the most treasured ones out. Read The Full Story

Blind people going after fuel efficient vehicle manufacturers

Whether they be Hybrids that run on electric in the city, all electric vehicles, or fuel cell vehicles they are all nearly silent or completely silent when driving in the inner-city. The blind people are pissed, and a little scared. For the past god knows how long blind people have gotten by walking through the city with use of the heightened sense of sound so they can hear the cars driving by with their fairly audible motors and can avoid being hit. These days its gotten a lot harder with the large number of hybrid vehicles, most of which run only on the silent electric motor when going city speeds, and then there are all electric vehicles that are growing more and more popular that are completely silent. Capsuli solar powered LED pills

I called them pills, because that’s what they are shaped like, but you probably shouldn’t eat them. I know this is a really cool design, but to settle you down a bit before you go looking for the purchase link, its just a design, no production yet, but it was designed by Ukeseop Jeong and Hanna Son. KISS is a principle that I learned about a long time ago, I don’t follow it near as much as I should, but I love it when I see products that do. The two designers didn’t try and reinvent they wheel here, these things are so close to pills its not even funny, even the packaging, where you pop them out the back side to disconnect them from the power source is just like a pill. Generally a paper shredder is a paper shredder, nothing special about it. However this revoulutionary new concept design not only shreds but reuses the paper. Read The Full Story

Aptera Diesel Hybrid car gets 230 miles to the gallon

Personally, I don’t think this story needs to go any further than the headline and a picture, but that’s just me, and you probably want some more information on a vehicle that good for both your wallet and your environment. Well lets start with the facts that it has 3 wheels and gull-wing doors which look awesome. Next up is the fact it looks a lot like a space ship, but retro, so like, one of the spaceships you might see in one of the older episodes of Star Trek or something along those lines. Its drivable on most roadways too, with a top speed of 55. Read The Full Story

Eco-friendly wind up lamp looks cool, saves energy

This cool lamp has a giant wind up knob on its back. I think it looks pretty cool, and the fact that the handle not only winds up the spring inside, but acts as a timer, I think that’s great. It will also be one of the few lamps that get its power from you, the winder. I don’t know what the deal is with Earth friendly lighting solutions, but this is the third this week, first it was the 8 watt 400 lumen LED, then it was the Firewinder yesterday, and now a wind up lamp. Firewinder is a spinning wind-powered light source

Tom Lawton designed this awesome thing that converts just a little breeze into a lot of light. It doesn’t get bright enough to be useful for work, but it will provide a little light, and act as a beacon of sorts. It will work with wind speeds as low as 3 miles per hour, all the way up to 40mph. The optimum speed is 5-7 mph though. Read The Full Story

One Mr. Frank McKinney is taking on this massive project. This particular home will cost roughly $29 million dollars. What do you get for that kind of money? Well not counting the green features of the home, you get a great location, a beautiful home, and 8 bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, 2 elevators, 2 laundry rooms, 2 wine cellars, 1 movie theater, 1 air purification system, and a guest house. Octopus reinforces environmentalism in youngsters

This little plastic octopus is a design by Jaehyung Hong that will aid in teaching your kids two things, first don’t throw your trash out on the beach, and second, recycling can be fun. The colored portion you see is really just a base, the toy isn’t complete until you find 8 plastic bottles that people have littered the beach with, and screw them into the octopus. Once you do that the octopus becomes a floating toy, and you and your offspring have just ridded the littered beaches of at least 8 pieces of potentially dangerous plastic trash. It’s really kind of sad there aren’t more inventions like this one. Read The Full Story

Fujitsu-Siemens Scaleo Windows Home Server

Apparently yet another device scheduled to be released at IFA this year, but we have some photos and a few specs for you now. With the Windows Home Server market slowly starting to add products to its line Fujitsu-Siemens has entered the ring with their Scaleo. What we know is that there will be 4 internal drive bays, I have no clue how they will fit in there though. As far as ports go, you will have plenty of options for connectivity with 4 USB 2.0 ports, and 2 e-SATA ports. Read The Full Story
