Apple’s new EarPods get teardown treatment from iFixit

Apple's new EarPods certainly look like they'll offer an improvement over the older earbuds, but just how much of an improvement is there? That's what the folks at iFixit are determined to find out, putting the EarPods in the spotlight as the subject of its latest teardown. Using an exacto knife, a metal spudger, and an iFixit-branded guitar pick, the iFixit gang pried and pulled apart the redesigned EarPods to see if they really can boast significant improvements over Earbuds of the past. iPhone 5 event wrap-up: details and onsite photos

It’s iPhone 5 day and Apple has revealed not just the new smartphone, but a flurry of iPod devices and a brand new set of earbuds called EarPods to boot. The iPhone 5 is set to be released on the 21st of September with pre-orders starting this Friday, the 14th of September, and it’ll cost the same as the iPhone 4S has costed up to this point, starting at $199 for the 16GB iteration of the phone. This update includes a 4-inch Retina display, a new Lightning dock connector, and the thinnest and lightest body for an iPhone yet despite its increased height. Apple EarPods introduced as full earbuds refresh

This week at the iPhone 5 event that also played host to several iPod bumps in the line, Apple showed off EarPods, the newest in earbud technology from the company that's also bringing a big iTunes refresh soon as well. These EarPods are made to "fit for everyone" and are, as Jony Ive says, "designed to direct sound into the ear." This set of listening devices is set to be offered by Apple as a standalone product but will also be in the package whenever you purchase any of the new devices shown off this week.
