EA to release new cover art, game roster in response to Favre trade

I don't know if any of you keep up on football or not, but Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre has been dominating the headlines over the past couple of months. From talk of coming out of retirement to playing for a different team, all eyes have pretty much been on him. Well the dust has settled, and although he did decide to go back to the Packers, it was only for a short while, as he has been traded to the New York Jets. So what does all of this have to do with video games? He happens to be on the cover of Madden '09 in his famous #4 Green Bay Packers jersey. EA has been quick to respond to the recent events surrounding the trade of Favre to the New York Jets. They have promised to do two things in order to make the game as true-to-life as possible. First, they are going to make a downloadable alternate cover which will feature Favre in his new Jets jersey. Second, they will have a downloadable roster update on August 11 which will appropriately place Favre in the New York Jets roster. Read The Full Story

EA says no more exploiting licenses with crappy games

Every time I walk down a gaming isle and see a game based off of a really bad movie, I wonder why on earth it was even created. Then I remember that some gaming studios love to try and cash in on a license in the hopes that the movie will be a success. Who cares if the game is bad, so long as the movie is good. Unfortunately in the case of say, Catwoman, neither was exactly worth sitting the whole way through. Well EA has vowed that the days of making crappy games (from movie licenses, not crappy games in general, mind you) are behind them. Read The Full Story

, Jul 31st 2008 Discuss [1]

How many of you still game on your Xbox? No, I'm not talking about your 360, but that old clunky box with the giant controllers. Well those of you that haven't upgraded to a current-gen console are in luck, as EA has just announced that they will be bringing Madden NFL 09 to the original Xbox. Read The Full Story

EA to sell Crysis Warhead branded PCs

, Jul 30th 2008 Discuss [0]

Can your PC run Crysis? If you keep your hardware up to date, then it's possible that you can run it fairly well at the lowest, or possibly even medium settings. However, when the game first came out, almost no one was able to even able to crank it up to High at a decent resolution. We know that Crysis Warhead is going to be a little easier on your system, but how can you make sure that your PC can handle it? Just buy a new Crysis Warhead branded PC from EA. Read The Full Story

KOTOR MMO confirmed!

, Jul 18th 2008 Discuss [0]

We've been hearing rumors about a possible KOTOR MMO for what seems like ages now. Most recently we've seen a few trademark filings from LucasArts that sounded an awful lot like an MMO. Well we finally have our official confirmation on the matter from EA. Read The Full Story

Pervs be warned EA is watching your Spore Creatures

, Jun 19th 2008 Discuss [0]

Spore Creature Creator has caused all kinds of buzz, I haven't quite jumped on the bandwagon yet, but I imagine I'll give it a try eventually. However, those that have gotten it might want to watch themselves when it comes to all those giant penis creatures you've been creating. Read The Full Story

EA backs down on crappy DRM for Mass Effect

, May 12th 2008 Discuss [1]

I love the age we live in. It's a time when not only does everyone have a voice on the internet, but we can also be heard. In the old days if you were upset about something, you'd write a letter to someone important, or perhaps if you felt strongly enough you might start a protest. However, if a company decides to load down a new game with really crappy DRM, thousands of people start complaining about it online, and then something gets done about it. Read The Full Story

Overactive DRM will likely cripple Mass Effect for PC

I'm not one of those people who denies that piracy is an issue. I fully understand that gaming studios lose a lot of money to pirates each year, which means money that could be going towards development is lost. However, there are times when it's just easier to play a pirated version of a game, rather than your perfectly legit copy. I have a feeling that Mass Effect for the PC is going to be one of those games. Read The Full Story

Say goodbye to The Sims Online

I enjoy a wide range of video games, however, The Sims is a series that I have just never been able to get into. I've tried a few times, and have watched others play, but it's just so damn boring. When Sims Online came out I could at least understand why people played it, as it was more of an online social interaction. Unfortunately for players of the game (recently rebranded as EA-Land), the game is going to be taken offline. Read The Full Story

EA attempts hostile takeover of Take-Two

, Mar 14th 2008 Discuss [0]

Raise your hand if you wish EA would just leave Take-Two Interactive alone. You can all put your hands down now, I can't see them anyway. EA has apparently abandoned their nice-guy strategy and even their strong-arm tactics, instead they are going for an all-out hostile takeover. Read The Full Story

Take-Two wants to remain independent

We all know that EA, along with other unnamed companies have had their eye on Take-Two for some time now. Take-Two has been rather coy and rejected all offers to date, and it doesn't seem to have much to do with the money. Read The Full Story

EA isn’t the only one eying Take-Two

We already know that EA has had their eye on Take-Two Interactive, but so far not even a $2 billion offer has been tempting. Naturally Take-Two has likely been waiting  for other offers to come rolling in, and apparently that's exactly what's happening. Read The Full Story
