I love the age we live in. It’s a time when not only does everyone have a voice on the internet, but we can also be heard. In the old days if you were upset about something, you’d write a letter to someone important, or perhaps if you felt strongly enough you might start a protest. However, if a company decides to load down a new game with really crappy DRM, thousands of people start complaining about it online, and then something gets done about it.

I’m not one of those people who denies that piracy is an issue. I fully understand that gaming studios lose a lot of money to pirates each year, which means money that could be going towards development is lost. However, there are times when it’s just easier to play a pirated version of a game, rather than your perfectly legit copy. I have a feeling that Mass Effect for the PC is going to be one of those games.

I enjoy a wide range of video games, however, The Sims is a series that I have just never been able to get into. I’ve tried a few times, and have watched others play, but it’s just so damn boring. When Sims Online came out I could at least understand why people played it, as it was more of an online social interaction. Unfortunately for players of the game (recently rebranded as EA-Land), the game is going to be taken offline.

Raise your hand if you wish EA would just leave Take-Two Interactive alone. You can all put your hands down now, I can’t see them anyway. EA has apparently abandoned their nice-guy strategy and even their strong-arm tactics, instead they are going for an all-out hostile takeover.

We all know that EA, along with other unnamed companies have had their eye on Take-Two for some time now. Take-Two has been rather coy and rejected all offers to date, and it doesn’t seem to have much to do with the money.

We already know that EA has had their eye on Take-Two Interactive, but so far not even a $2 billion offer has been tempting. Naturally Take-Two has likely been waiting  for other offers to come rolling in, and apparently that’s exactly what’s happening.

Earlier in the month we brought you news that Mass Effect would be heading to the PC sometime in May. EA has officially confirmed the release date to be May 6th.

The game will largely remain the same, with only a few new features. A full breakdown of these is listed after the jump. Unfortunately the system requirements for the game have not yet been revealed.

EA is the largest game publisher out there, and as such, they don’t take no for an answer. Since their previous three bids to purchase Take-Two Interactive have failed, they’ve decided to call in a ringer to help seal the deal.

Last year was a great year for gaming. Granted, there weren’t any major console releases, but game sales were at their highest, and were probably one of the few things that saved the holiday shopping season from being a complete retail disaster. While you could pour over numbers all day long, the easiest way to tell that the industry as a whole is doing well is to simply look at all of the companies trying to purchase each other. Take-Two has been the latest one being sought after.

I’ve got some bad news for those of you looking forward to a new title in the KotOR series. Apparently the EA report that listed BioWare as working on a new installment of the game was misinterpreted.
