LA-EA2 Sony Lens Adapter Leaks with Mirror and Speed-Boosting AF Sensor

, Aug 13th 2011 Discuss [2]

This is the LA-EA2, a lens adapter that allows you to put Sony's Alpha SLR lenses onto all of its smaller NEX cameras. While this sort of situation generally just has a few jimmyrigged bits making the lens not quite as awesome fitted onto the camera that's not normally meant to have the lens, this new piece of equipment has a translucent mirror inside to collect a tiny bit of light from the image as it travels into the camera, this light then sent to a phase-detection autofocus sensor in the base. Before we begin speaking about this cool new masterpiece, I must warn you that it is still a concept. This means it's not in production yet, and if there is a unit out there working, it's still just a prototype. , Aug 4th 2011 Discuss [4]

Today the fine folks at Chainfire (Android developers) have released their first Beta of an app by the name of DSLR Controller. This app will allow you full control over your Canon EOS DSLR camera from your Android phone or tablet connected via USB. At the moment this is the only application that can do such a thing, and no computer, laptop, or any other hardware is required other than the camera itself, the correct USB cable and adapter, and your Android device with said app. The release we're looking at today is a BETA version meaning it almost certainly WILL have bugs, but is released on the Android market at this very moment for $8.51 if you're feeling adventurous. , Jul 28th 2011 Discuss [0]

We have talked about some of the high-end camera gear that astronauts take into space with them for shooting photos. LockCircle is the ultimate Canon DSLR body cap

, Jul 14th 2011 Discuss [3]

If you have a DSLR camera from Canon, you are familiar with the body cap that is made from plastic and goes onto the body of the camera to keep dust out of the sensor when you store it with no lens. Anyone that has tried to put that cap on or take it off when shooting in the cold where you have to wear gloves will know how big a pain putting that cap on and off can be.
