Motorola tablet up next from Verizon: DROID all but confirmed

With the DROID Ultra and the DROID Maxx out in stores now aside the DROID Mini, there's not much else Motorola can do in the smartphone space - save the Moto X, of course. But what about tablets? This week the folks at Droid Landing have all but confirmed their intent to release a Motorola DROID tablet in the wake of the DROID smartphone series for 2013 - now it's just a matter of seeing how much of the Motorola hands-free action will be able to use.

Motorola XYBOARD waterproof editions revealed

Motorola XYBOARD waterproof editions revealed

This week the folks at Motorola have brought forth some new tablets for the whole world to fawn over - waterproofed XYBOARDs! This release doesn't exactly bring a whole new tablet - or tablets, as it were - to the table, but re-releases the XYBOARD in two new editions with one big modification: waterproofing. In the advertisements released thus far, this amazing ability is being shown as Saint Patrick's Day savior, stoppering up the Irish whiskey you'll soon be consuming.

Verizon users see third December data downtime: are you connected?

Verizon users see third December data downtime: are you connected?

We've seen several downtimes this month in just about the least opportune time for Verizon of the entire year, this most recent downtime (today) being just between Christmas and the New Year, without a doubt a time when masses of everyday citizens are on holiday break and would rather be browsing the web than doing their post-Yule cleanup. Users from everywhere, from San Francisco to New York City, are experiencing downtimes in data and are pointedly noting 4G LTE to be the pressure point for this outage. Verizon has confirmed this status and tells us to remain warm.

Motorola DROID XYBOARD hands-on rundown, complete with accessories

This month we bore witness to Motorola's newest wave of Android tablets, that being both the DROID XYBOARD 10.1 and the DROID XYBOARD 8.2, both of them great candidates for replacing your now-aging XOOM tablet if you bought in to the Android tablet game earlier this year, and fabulous places for those new to Android to jump in on this game for a high quality experience - now have a look at all of our hands-on videos here in one post, as well as our final judgement on whether or not you should pick one up. We've got hands-on videos of both models of what's also known as the XOOM 2 here as well as glances at the accessories you can pick up from Verizon as well. Let them be judged!

Motorola DROID XYBOARD Accessories Review

Motorola DROID XYBOARD Accessories Review

Color us surprised when we received a box full of Android-oriented Motorola accessories made for the DROID XYBOARD just days after the release of said device and our review of the 10.1-inch version of it - but don't color us dismissive - while we're already basically decided on the fate of both versions of these tablets for now, their accessories are another story. Everything from a leathery encapsulating case and keyboard to the most versatile HD dock Motorola has ever released for smart devices, this is the box of Verizon-carried official bits you can also purchase when you pick up one or both of the tablets. Have a peek at not only our judgement but hands-on videos galore as well.

Motorola DROID XYBOARD 8.2 Review

Motorola DROID XYBOARD 8.2 Review

This week we've seen two Motorola tablets, both of them with essentially the same name DROID XYBOARD, this the smaller of the two at 8.2-inches in screen size. While the 10.1-inch display sized iteration costs a bit more and does afford you a bit more screen real-estate, what you're about to see is an account that'll let you know how little you're missing when you go with the slightly more convenient sized 8.2. That and we've got a couple of accessories to peek at as well. Also note that if you're looking for the 10.1-inch version, you've only to check out the timeline after the second paragraph to head on down the rabbit hole.

Motorola DROID XYBOARD 10.1 Review

Motorola DROID XYBOARD 10.1 Review

When it comes to tablet warfare, Motorola seemed to get out in the open with a weapon of mass excellence with the XOOM pretty early, it being the first to run Android 3.0 Honeycomb, the first Android made specifically for the tablet form factor - now they've come back with the XOOM 2 aka the DROID XYBOARD and we're not so sure it's the same ground-breaking situation. What we've got here instead is certainly a solid package, this XYBOARD 10.1 making some improvements over the original XOOM, especially in form if you were one of the many people who said the XOOM was a hunk of metal with no style, (note: I was not one of those people, I still think the XOOM looks pretty awesome for the workhorse that it is,) and with LTE right out of the box, the XYBOARD provides the promise that the original XOOM took much MUCH to long to deliver on: 4G LTE connectivity. But is it enough for Motorola enthusiasts to want to upgrade from their first 10.1-inch love?

DROID RAZR in white comes tomorrow – can you guess why?

DROID RAZR in white comes tomorrow – can you guess why?

Though it may seem like an exercise in foolish re-reporting to speak on this white version of the DROID RAZR again when we announced it earlier this month, it's availability for tomorrow (the 15th of December) should strike you hard enough to bring about a bit more buzz than this device otherwise would. Since the DROID RAZR was released in its original black/gray form last month (our full review able to be found here), another color for the casing of this device is essentially just a paint job on the same cool sharpness: but besides the OTHER device you're more than likely aware is almost certainly coming to Verizon tomorrow, recognize this: the DROID XYBOARDs are being cross-promoted with this handset as a "one-two punch of media mastery and multitasking might."

Motorola DROID XYBOARD 10.1 and XYBOARD 8.2 hands-on

Motorola DROID XYBOARD 10.1 and XYBOARD 8.2 hands-on

Motorola's first-gen XOOM launched with plenty of promise at the beginning of the year, but Honeycomb - and some expensive data plans from Verizon - left the Android alternative to the iPad looking less than appealing. Now Motorola's second attempt at the segment, the XYBOARD 10.1 and XYBOARD 8.2, have arrived, fresh to the SlashGear test bench with new angular styling, faster processors and some special features that might at least give new tablet shoppers an idea what exactly to use big-screen slates for. Read on for our first impressions.
