While Verizon has a firm plan on their LTE roll-out for the rest of 2010, leading all the way out to 2013, there's no reason to think that their current generation devices have the ability to access 4G technology. At least, that's what they want you to think. If you've been waiting patiently for Verizon to push out the Android 2.2. Froyo update for the HTC Droid Incredible, not taking the easy option and opting for one of the unofficial ROMs that are circulating, then today could be the day your high standards are rewarded.  Verizon has pinged us to let us know that they're pushing out Froyo for the Droid Incredible as an OTA update, complete with Adobe Flash Player 10.1.

HTC EVO 4G shortages undermine Sprint’s WiMAX advantage admits Hesse

Sprint's patchy stock of the HTC EVO 4G has limited the impact of their early entrance into the 4G market, according to CEO Dan Hesse, telling the WSJ that "we thought we would have more of a head start than we'll end up having."  HTC says the delay in handsets is down to shortages in stocks of components like touchscreens, and that they're looking to new suppliers to boost production capacity; according to HTC spokesman Keith Nowak, the company is even monitoring flights to the US to get last-minute shipping space for the EVO 4G - and the Verizon Droid Incredible, similarly in short supply - as it rolls fresh off the production line and thus speed up availability.

If you haven't read the review of the Droid Incredible, or the HTC Desire, then we'll add the main draw of those phones right here (even though you should go read them, anyway): Their 3.7-inch AMOLED displays are amazing. Unless you plan on using your device in direct sunlight all the time, AMOLED is definitely one of the best displays out there (yes, Super AMOLED is better). But, it's been rough for HTC to keep their latest AMOLED-toting device in stock, and a lot of that has to do with that screen. Changes are afoot, though, which may help people out there aching to get their hands on the Droid Incredible they've purchased before the end of July.

Google weren't shy about confirming Android 2.2 Froyo's star features at Google IO yesterday, but definitive timescales about when Android-addicts (other than developers) could actually get their hands on the OS were in short supply.  That's beginning to slowly change, with the official Google IO Twitter account announcing that the Nexus One would get Froyo in the "next few weeks".  As for other manufacturers, so far only HTC have stepped up with their plan.
