If you've been wondering which smartphones are the most popular right now, then wonder no more. Canaccord Genuity analysts T. Michael Walkley, Charles John, and Mathew D. Ramsay have conducted a survey of carrier retail stores to see which smartphones were their top performers. The survey reports the top 3 handsets for each month and shows that the Apple iPhone 4 has a winning streak.

LG Revolution Unboxing and hands-on

Verizon is building up a small collection of LTE smartphones on its new 4G network, and the LG Revolution is third to the party. Apple wins early access to Samsung phones/tablets in copycat case

Apple wins early access to Samsung phones/tablets in copycat case

Samsung must hand over samples from its current and incoming smartphone and tablet range, along with marketing materials, to Apple's legal team as part of an "expedited discovery" process to see whether allegations of design similarity are accurate. That's the ruling of San Jose Federal Judge Lucy Koh, Courthouse News reports, who brought forward access to the Samsung Galaxy S II, Galaxy Tab 10.1, Galaxy Tab 8.9, Infuse 4G and DROID Charge after Apple "produced images of Samsung products and other evidence that provide a reasonable basis for Apple's belief that Samsung's new products are designed to mimic Apple's products."

Amazon Cuts Price of DROID Charge

The DROID Charge is Verizon's second ever blazing fast 4G LTE phone. After facing some delays caused in part by an outage in the 4G LTE network, the phone finally made its way to Verizon's store shelves last Saturday. But, it carried a very hefty price tag. Thankfully, Amazon is here to save the day wielding its mighty price slashing sword.

DROID Charge Review

DROID Charge Review

Verizon Wireless' first 4G LTE smartphone, the HTC ThunderBolt, paved the way for ultra high-speed handsets, which could double as useful mobile hotspots. Unfortunately it had a heavy thirst, too, giving us a few hours of LTE glee before expiring. The second 4G phone to the network, the Verizon DROID Charge by Samsung, has several challenges then: deliver the same blistering speed but with all-day battery life. This is no ThunderBolt facsimile, though, with the same 4.3-inch Super AMOLED Plus display that we fell in love with from the Samsung Galaxy S II. So, second-time the charm, or 4Get about it? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up, May 2nd 2011

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up, May 2nd 2011

The biggest news this morning, of course, is that Osama bin Laden is dead, killed in a raid by the US Military. And the news was inadvertently broken first on Twitter by one Sohaib Athar, who is now begging media to leave him alone so he can get some sleep! In other news, BlackBerry World is happening now, and we are loaded up with BlackBerry news, including the news that the BlackBerry PlayBook will be getting updates every few weeks to get the somewhat disappointing software up to speed. Already, there is news that the PlayBook will be getting Video Chat and Facebook apps in May. Read on to see all the BlackBerry news, and much more, including Thunderbolt, Nokia, ASUS, Motorola and Apple.

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up, April 28th 2011

SlashGear Morning Wrap-Up, April 28th 2011

Good news this morning, with Verizon's 4G LTE back online in time for the launch of the DROID Charge. But this is a black eye for Verizon, casting doubt on the reliability of their network, and leaving subscribers to wonder why they had to use a workaround to get 3G. We have a hands-on of the new white iPhone 4 that Chris Davies visited with in London, complete with a video and a comparison to the Samsung Galaxy S II. Also, users that had manually updated their Nook Color found their e-reader bricked after the 1.2 update was installed. No word yet on a fix, just that "engineers are investigating the issue". Also, the Huawei lawsuit, RIM's questionable OS update, the G-Slate, more on the Sony PSN story, plus the Samsung Galaxy S II launch in Korea. Lots more after the cut.

Verizon 4G LTE Down Nationwide

Verizon 4G LTE Down Nationwide

Verizon's experiencing some stumbling blocks the day before the commercial release of their new DROID Charge by Samsung. The LTE network that Thunderbolt users have been using with speeds of up to 12Mbps down is curently broken. Completely broken, as in down nationwide. This is only affecting the LTE component of Verizon's network, their 3G network is as strong as ever. Verizon is aware of the problem and has it's engineers working for a fix. For you Thunderbolt owners with a broken phone, there is also a workaround. This network outage is just five days after Verizon rolled out LTE to six more cities across the US.

DROID Charge unboxing and hands-on

DROID Charge unboxing and hands-on

It's pretty good timing for Verizon's DROID Charge by Samsung to arrive today, just when our Samsung Galaxy S II review goes live. Both smartphones share a couple of important features, most notably the 4.3-inch WVGA Super AMOLED Plus display. Unlike the previous AMOLED and Super AMOLED technology, the new Super AMOLED Plus allows you to see the display much better out in sunlight thanks to 50-percent more sub-pixels (this means twelve sub-pixels instead of eight). Looking at the display makes us want to weep like a 12-year old boy on Christmas morning. The Droid Charge has LTE to differentiate it, the second 4G smartphone to Verizon's line-up. Read on for our first-impressions.
