Fujitsu F-04B modular cellphone with pico-projector gets played with

, Nov 12th 2009 Discuss [0]

If you thought you'd seen it all in Nokia's Vision of 2015 video, book a flight to Tokyo and stop by Fujitsu's offices there.  They haven't seen to have got the memo that modular, wirelessly-connected mobile phones with integrated pico-projectors are meant to be the stuff of futurology, not fact, and as such have produced a working version of their F-04B cellphone.  Akihabara have been for a play, and claim it's a brilliant multifunctional device. NTT DoCoMo Super 3G (LTE) recorded 250Mbps downlink speed

, Mar 26th 2008 Discuss [0]

We are astonished by the DSL/Cable like speed of HSDPA which gives 7.2Mbps downlink speed here in US (not even on US wide) but sadly to say, other countries have better wireless broadband enhancement than we do. NTT DoCoMo is running a trial run of its Super 3G in Yokosuka Japan since February. The Super 3G or LTE (Long Term Evolution) recorded 250Mbps downlink and in theory could reach up to 300Mbps downlink and 75Mbps uplink. Read The Full Story

NTT DoCoMo plans on removing high-end functionality of its Mobile OS to accomodate international market

, Mar 24th 2008 Discuss [0]

Sometimes less is more. NTT DoCoMo decided to strip down its mobile OS to allow manufacturers to develop in conjunction to international market needs. Many phone manufacturers such as Mitsubishi has pulled out from Japanese market due to over crowded players – and to focus on international market instead. By doing this, NTT DoCoMo allows manufacturers to export low cost handsets to exploding market such as China and Thailand. Many analysts see this trend will be followed by NTT DoCoMo’s competitors. Sound Leaf+ bone conduction Bluetooth headset from NTT DoCoMo

This is pretty much as good as it gets for being able to hear your Bluetooth headset. The only issue I can see, is that if you are in a noisy enough environment where you need bone conduction to hear, then there is no way that the person you are talking to will be able to hear or understand what you are saying. It does have dual mic’s, one directional, one not, which should help with that problem though. And even if it doesn’t, the headset is supposedly still good for those with hearing disabilities as bone conduction works a little differently than sound waves. Read The Full Story

Japanese fast-food junkies get simple cellphone payment

, Feb 26th 2007 Discuss [0]

Sometimes you read a story and it rings all too true for you.  This evening I managed to ruin some chicken (stupid crappy broiler) so decided to grab some McDonalds drive-thru, only I got there and didn't have cash on me and so had to find a cashpoint.  Nearest one charged me an almost 20% processing fee for the pleasure of withdrawing my own money, then if you've ever experienced the UK version of "fast food" you'll know they manage to excise the "fast" part and just leave you with "tepid crap". Oh to be in Japan!  NTT DoCoMo and McDonalds have announced a partnership where cellphone subscribers will be able to swipe their handsets as e-payment for food.  The service will start in October 2007.
