iNUKE BOOM Junior shrinks the iPhone speaker beast

iNUKE BOOM Junior shrinks the iPhone speaker beast

Right at the end of last year the iNUKE BOOM was announced by behringer as the most ridiculously gigantic iPhone dock ever created - now the group has a much more reasonably sized companion. Instead of working with an 8 x 4 x 4-foot coffin of a speaker, one that cost $30k, you've got 8.7 x 16.5 x 9.8-inches of bulk at a much more reasonable $179.99. This device works with 2 x 1-inch tweeters, 2 x 3-inch midrange speakers, 1 x 5.25-inch woofer, and 10.6 pounds of weight - even if it is smaller, its still no pipsqueak!

iPhone 5 Lightning dock connector revealed to run alongside Thunderbolt

This week Apple showed off a brand new dock connector for their iPhone 5, and likely for the rest of their mobile line eventually, called Lightning. This cord uses an "all-digital 8-signal design" with an adaptive interface - works with either side up - and is 80 percent smaller than the previous iPod dock solution. This little beast has "improved durability" over the previous cords Apple has worked with and Apple has shown off an Adapter as well - the adapter here will allow you to work with the old 30-pin dock connector too if you've got those kinds of accessories.

iPhone 5 dock and display production cuts early supply

A report from China today suggests that suppliers behind the production of the new iPhone - or iPhone 5, if you prefer, are finding manufacturing numbers to be a bit lower than planned due to shortage of materials. This report comes from DigiTimes, a publication that has a mixed record for accuracy, but has produced early Asia-based supply news well in advance of official Apple sources in the past. Numbers of iPhone 5 shipments are said to be hitting below 15 million this season where Apple had requested that they be in excess of 20 million for the holiday months.

iPhone 5 mini dock appears in new shell photos

This afternoon the folks at iResQ have snapped a few photos of what appears to be the back shell of the next-generation iPhone ready for release next month by Apple. Here it appears that a new generation of Apple mobile products may be born in a dock connector that is essentially 1/4 the size of the original 30-pin "iPod dock".

iPad Mini dock connector leaks with odd port

iPad Mini dock connector leaks with odd port

It appears that the next-generation so-called iPad mini may have had a part leak out this afternoon with no less than a new mini dock connector attached to it. This part has been shared with NWE and "examined" by iFixit, both parties suggesting that it does indeed appear to be an official Apple device component for an unknown future tablet-sized device. What's strange about this part, however, is that it's got 10 pins in its dock rather than 8 or 16.
