Belkin Surf, Share, Play & Play Max routers try to make networking idiot-proof

, Mar 24th 2010 Discuss [0]

Seemingly based on the premise that computer users aren't to be trusted with regular routers and are likely to break things, set them up wrong or generally end up weeping on the end of a premium technical support line, Belkin have outed its latest series of so-simple-a-goose-could-do-it wireless routers.  The four-strong line-up - spanning $50 to $130 - all support WiFi 802.11n and have Easy Start and Self-Healing for straightforward everyday use, together with various preloaded apps for sharing music, gaming and printing. Samsung Zipel WiFi refrigerator packs DLNA streaming & Google Calendar

Think back to January and you might recall Samsung clearing WiFi certification with a refrigerator bearing a built-in digital photo frame.  Snap forward to today, and witness the awesome white-goods power of the Samsung Zipel SRT746AWTN, a double-door fridge with an integrated 10-inch touchscreen. With that touchscreen - and the Zipel's WiFi b/g support - you can browse the internet, stream media via DLNA, take notes and even pull up nutritional information for more than 500 different types of food.  It'll also show Google Calendar entries and weather reports, again with internet updates, as well as news alerts and other articles.  Slap in a memory card (no telling what type) or hook up some sort of wireless storage and the Samsung Zipel can show a slideshow of your favorite photos, which is frankly much better than sticking on rubbish painted pasta pictures that your offspring comes home with and expects you to fawn over. 2010 Sony BRAVIA HDTV range revealed: 3D, WiFi and more

Sony have become the latest to announce a new HDTV range at CES 2010, and like LG and Toshiba there are some 3D-ready models in among the mixture.  Naming your style ethos a "Monolithic Design Concept" seems like a recipe for disaster, but Sony's 2010 BRAVIA range is appealing in a sharp edged way.  There are a full 38 models on offer; more details after the cut. LG Plasma HDTV CES 2010 range boast super-narrow bezels

In comparison to their huge 2010 LCD range, LG's new plasma HDTVs are conspicuous by their scarcity: the company have announced a mere eight new sets at CES 2010.  Among those six, however, are some impressive sounding beasts and some mighty fine design.  LG's TruSlim Frame models, for instance, the PK550 and PJ350, have bezels just 0.9-inches wide; all of the 2010 sets are around two-inches deep, too, and LG have shaved off considerable weight as well. LG LCD HDTV CES 2010 range revealed: 3D-ready flagship Infinia LE9500

LG's CES 2010 LCD HDTV line-up may not be quite as technologically impressive as Toshiba's CELL-packing ZX900, but it certainly dwarfs it in terms of sheer number of models.  The company have announced a full 39 different HDTVs, ranging from the entry-level LD350 which kicks off at a modest 19-inches, through to the Infinia LE9500 flagship with up to 55-inch panels, skinny 8.5mm bezels, Full HD 1080p, Skype videocalls (assuming you plug in a webcam), 3D-ready support and streaming media from Netflix, VUDU, YouTube, Napster and Yahoo! Widgets. Read The Full Story

Toshiba ZX900 Series CELL TV getting 2010 US release

"CELL," says Toshiba about its new range of CELL TVs for the US, "makes everything better", and while we're not sure whether that includes lingering health issues we'll concede that the company's new ZX900 Series CELL TV certainly cheers up any mild Winter depression we're having.  The vast 1080p HD set will come in 55- and 65-inch versions, and the CELL engine apparently throws in 143 times the processing power you'll find in a regular TV.  As for what Toshiba does with all that horsepower, they use it to churn through their new True Super Resolution technology.
