Dawnguard PS3 development woes have Sony giving Bethesda a helping hand

Dawnguard PS3 development woes have Sony giving Bethesda a helping hand

It isn't exactly a secret by now that Bethesda is having some major issues with the PS3 version of Skyrim: Dawnguard. PS3 players are being left out in the cold thanks to a number of technical problems Bethesda is facing with the console, and the studio said a few weeks back that it may not be able to release the DLC if it can't figure out a fix for these issues. At the time, Bethesda said that it had been working closely with Sony to solve the issue, a statement that SCEA VP of publisher relations Adam Boyes echoed when recently speaking to Kotaku.

Hearthfire DLC for Skyrim available on Xbox 360 now

Hearthfire DLC for Skyrim available on Xbox 360 now

Skyrim's latest DLC, Hearthfire, launches on Xbox 360 today, and it seems to pack a lot into a tiny download. The DLC, which lets you collect raw materials to build your dream home and adopt children (among other things), weighs in at only 75MB, meaning that it should be a pretty quick download for most folks. The pack is budget-priced too as it costs a mere 400 MSP, leading us to believe that this is a tiny DLC bonus meant to tide us over while we wait for the next expansion-like Skyrim DLC pack.

Borderlands 2 Mechromancer DLC release date outed by Gearbox

The release of the highly-anticipated Borderlands 2 is just two short weeks away, and it won't be long after that September 18 release that the game gets its first DLC. We've known for a while that this DLC will add a new class - the Mechromancer - but what we didn't know is when it will launch. This weekend at PAX Prime, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford finally gave an actual date, saying that the pack will be available "by October 16."

Dawnguard PS3 may not see release as problems persist

Dawnguard PS3 may not see release as problems persist

PS3 owners have been waiting, some more patiently than others, for their version of Dawnguard to arrive. Skyrim's first DLC has been available on PC for a while now and Xbox 360 for even longer, but Bethesda delayed the PS3 version earlier this month because it wasn't satisfied with the expansion's performance. Unfortunately, it looks like those problems with Dawnguard on PS3 aren't going away, and in a new statement, Bethesda seems to hint that the PS3 might miss out on a release entirely as a result.

Dawnguard PS3 wasn’t delayed because of Hearthfire, Bethesda assures

Dawnguard PS3 wasn’t delayed because of Hearthfire, Bethesda assures

Yesterday, Bethesda announced Hearthfire, the latest DLC for Skyrim. It looks to be a charming little DLC pack, but there's just one problem: Xbox 360 owners will be getting Hearthfire next week, but PS3 owners are still without Dawnguard, Skyrim's first DLC. This understandably has some PS3 players wondering if Bethesda delayed Dawnguard on PS3 so it could finish up work on Hearthfire and get it out the door quickly.

Skyrim: Hearthfire DLC lets you build your dream home

Skyrim: Hearthfire DLC lets you build your dream home

Bethesda has announced new DLC for the incredibly popular Skyrim, but this DLC probably isn't what you were thinking it would be. Dubbed Hearthfire, this latest DLC pack focuses less on the adventuring aspects of the game and encourages players to not only build their own home, but start a family and settle down. We saw features like this in the Skyrim Game Jam video Todd Howard showed during his keynote at DICE 2012, but few were thinking that home building and adoption would end up being the focus of actual DLC.

BioWare details Leviathan and Firefight Mass Effect 3 DLC

Mass Effect 3's multiplayer is definitely a fun way to pass the time, but if you're like me, you bought Mass Effect 3 for the single player story. Disappointingly, single player DLC has been hard to come by with Mass Effect 3, while BioWare seems to release multiplayer DLC every other week. That's all about to change with BioWare's upcoming Leviathan and Firefight DLC, and today the studio dropped some details on both in a post on the BioWare blog.

Dawnguard now available on PC, PS3 players still waiting

Well, that was quick. Earlier this week Bethesda's Pete Hines promised that more information about the missing PC and PS3 releases of Dawnguard, Skyrim's first DLC, would be coming soon. When he said that, we didn't think he meant it would be releasing soon, but apparently he did. Yes, Dawnguard is available on PC right this very instant, but be ready to pony up that cash, because it comes with a price tag of $19.99.
