The new DLC is available for the Xbox 360 and the PS3 and adds in a bunch of new scenes from some of the coolest and most popular films and TV shows on the air today. There is a ton of new content coming this month and in April for fans of the game to grab up.

There are some really cool scenes from films like 300, Fletch, Zoolander, CSI, and a ton of other films and shows. There are scene packs coming with a Star Trek pack, Superheroes pack, The Hangover pack and more. A bunch of new Hollywood sets are coming too with some from Silence of the Lambs, 300, King Kong, Ghostbusters and more. The content will sell for $2 for individual scenes, 3-clips for $5, and 5-clips for $7. The game itself sells for $49.99.

The first three tracks are all new singles that will be available at the same time (or before) you can buy the album. Electric Clown from Testament is the only track which isn’t brand spanking new. The only song that is more difficult to play than Buckethead’s Jordan, would be Through the Fire and Flames by Dragonforce. Those of you who are up to the challenge will be able to download these songs sometime in August.

Yes, that’s the very same Buckethead that melted your face with Jordan back on GH II. Yes, you are going to fail this song, a lot. The price for the pack wasn’t announced, though we’ll likely see the usual $6.25 price tag when it goes live later today.

I always welcome more Nine Inch Nails to my set list, especially when the songs are spread out from a few different albums. We’ll be able to grab the 3-pack for the usual $5.49, or individual tracks for $1.99. The Shinedown tracks will only be available individually for $1.99.

Their latest full studio release will debut on Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock at the same time it is available for purchase in stores. I’ll be interested to see how it sells in-game as opposed to traditional downloads via iTunes and such. Motley Crue had great success with releasing a single in Rock Band at the same time it became available on iTunes.

What is really interesting is that the album will also be available as DLC for Guitar Hero IV, which raises a few questions. If I buy this DLC for GH III, will I still need to purchase it again for IV? If not, then does this mean other DLC will transfer as well? If not, I think I’ll hold off on downloading this for a while.

That’s right, to celebrate the Fourth of July, Activision is releasing the Top Gun Anthem as a free (yes, free!) downloadable track. Do note that rocking out to this song won’t make you as cool as Tom Cruse was in that movie, but it’s about as close as you’ll get.

I have to say that I’m really digging all of this free DLC. Sure, it’s not a regular occurrence or anything, but I loves me some free tracks!

Yet another free track is set to be released today for both the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 versions of Guitar Hero III. The new track is “I Am Murloc” by Level 70 Elite Tauren Chieftain.

The track was written for last year’s BlizzCon event, and is a fairly amusing song from the perspective of one of the most annoying characters in the game. Personally I would have rather liked “Rogues Do It From Behind” but a free track is a free track.

Thanks to a brief announcement on the band’s website, we now know that some of their older songs are going to be hitting the Rock Band DLC soon. We don’t yet know when they’ll be coming down the pipeline, but I’m happy to hear that they’re coming at all. Six songs in all have been announced:

While I haven’t seen this recent commercial myself, apparently you can catch a glimpse of four DLC tracks for Rock Band on an ad which promoted the MTV2 track pack. The four tracks are listed below.

Without a full set of masters, it’s next to impossible to add this album into Rock Band. Sure, they could use covers, but Harmonix knows that it wouldn’t be the same. There hasn’t been any official word from the crew at HMX, but I’ll see if I can’t get in touch with them for their thoughts.

The first two track packs are the Motorhead Track Pack and Isle of Wight. No, Isle of Wight isn’t some strange band you’ve never heard of, but rather a rock festival that happened back in 2007. The available tracks are listed below along with the date released.

You’re probably scratching your head, much the same as I did when I heard this news. I even loaded up some of their music to confirm that yes, there is a lot of piano in their music. Fear not though,Violet Hill, which will be the first track to hit GH, has a fair bit of guitar.

I checked out the video for the song on YouTube, and while I don’t necessarily think that the guitar is going to be all that difficult, it’s really not a bad tune. We should probably expect to see this around the same time as their new album is launched, which is June 17.

The End Begins (to Rock) sounds like it will be a blast to play. Xbox 360 players are out of luck, so I wouldn’t even bother watching that video to see how much rocking you’re going to miss out on.

While I can certainly understand why these tracks wouldn’t be seen on another platform, I’m not a big fan of exclusives. Since the game is on both PS3 and Xbox 360, hopefully they won’t start making other non-gaming tracks exclusive to one platform or the other.

All six of these tracks are master recordings, however, Jimmy Buffett re-recorded all three of his songs just for Rock Band, so don’t expect the same old Cheeseburger In Paradise. His track pack will go for the standard $5.49 (440 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) with individual songs at $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) each.

If Disturbed is more your thing and you’re thinking about buying the CD, your best bet is to head over to Best Buy and grab it. If you do, you’ll be able to download two of the three songs for free in Rock Band. Only Perfect Insanity isn’t included. Those not buying the album can still download them at a nice price, as the pack will set you back only $2.99 (240 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360) or $.99 per track (80 Microsoft Points for Xbox 360).

Here’s a few numbers for you to crunch; the new single Saints of Los Angeles sold around 10,000 copies through the combined efforts of iTunes and Amazon. I don’t keep track of how well songs sell, so I’m just going to guess that it sold rather well. Now if we look at just how many times it was downloaded via the Xbox 360 for Rock Band, you’ll see that it did slightly better, clocking in at 47,000 downloads.

I’m no mathematician, but I’d say that those are some respectable numbers. I don’t doubt that we’ll see more and more bands opting to release singles via Rock Band in the future.

I’m not sure if you can technically consider any of these tracks to be “exclusive” to Europe per se, since they are actually being released in the US first. I’m sure that some European gamers will be a little upset at that fact, however, I’m all for the tracks being available to everyone. Then again I’m all for games getting released everywhere at the same time, but we all know that’ll never happen. The tracks will run you the usual $1.99 (160 Microsoft Points) each.

This has to be one of the first times that a trio of songs has been available in a pack together without actually having some cool nickname. It has been announced that if you purchase the upcoming DVD set of South Park Season 11, you’ll also get a trio of exclusive tracks for Rock Band for free. I’m really not sure what to expect for the tracks. Perhaps an extended version of the theme song by Primus? Who knows.

While the thought of free tracks is appealing, I don’t think I’ll be cashing in on this deal. In case you didn’t know, the entire South Park catalog is available for free here. Mind you that these aren’t rips hosted by some random group, but totally legit episodes hosted by Comedy Central. Those bonus tracks would have to be pretty awesome to make me want to purchase a DVD set just to get them.

I don’t know if you’ve ever played the Flash version of Portal. It’s by no means an official game, but rather the work of dedicated fans. It’s really fun and will probably kill up to an hour of your time. Well the guys that created the Flash version have converted all 40 levels into maps that you can play in the actual game.

They suspect that you’ll get a good 3 to 4 hours of gameplay out of these new maps. If you’ve got some time to kill and are craving some Portal, this is definitely a good way to supplement the game. Head over here to grab the data.

You’ll note that the quality of the footage isn’t great, and the position of the camera is even worse. I really do apologize for this, but we were short on time, and weren’t able to properly setup our equipment before rocking out.

I’m over on the right rocking bass, my brother Eric is on the left covering your view of his lead guitar stylings and John Drake is rocking the drums. I don’t know if you guys have met John (you can see a previous interview with him here), but he actually plays the drums for a couple of bands, and will rock your socks of if you get the chance to play with him.

I loved playing this song, it’s been one of my favorite songs since Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness came out and it’s a blast to play. There’s one other song that we were able to play during our visit to the Star Chamber, however if I told you what it was, John would have to kill me.

Alright, I’ll admit that I absolutely loath Message in a Bottle. That’s the song my friends would pick just to piss me off in GH II. Simple Man, however, is an awesome tune. Starting this Tuesday at 2 am you’ll be able to download the latest maps for your favorite FPS (well, for Halo 3 at least). Sure, plenty of you have likely already purchased the maps already, but for those that haven’t felt like dishing out the required $10, you’ll want to jump on this one.

For those that have recently purchased the Heroic Pack and are wondering about some kind of refund, I wouldn’t get your hopes up. There is no plan (that we’ve heard) of refunds, just some good clean (free) fun for those that haven’t paid already.
