If Crüefest hasn’t made its way to your area, there’s a good chance that it will sometime in the near future. I had a chance to check it out a couple of weeks ago, and the bands put on a good show. You can now pick up another three-pack from some of the bands, plus a couple of singles from System of a Down.

This week’s DLC for Rock Band is a little different from what we usually see. Normally we look forward to tracks that we’ve heard many times before, with the occasional new single thrown into the mix. However, this week we are treated to three brand new singles from different bands.

I must say that I’m impressed by Activision. They have announced yet another track pack for Guitar Hero III. Granted, it won’t be out until next month, but it’s definitely good to see that they haven’t given up on DLC. So what could possibly follow up the Virtuoso Pack? Apparently only a trio of Dragonforce tracks.

Guitar Hero DLC – Virtuoso Pack

By Chris on Thursday, Jul 24th 2008 No Comments

With Guitar Hero: World Tour coming later this year, I’d all but given up on having much more DLC for GH III. Sure, we know about the new Metallica album that’s coming, but that’s probably it, right? Nope, Activision is still churning out new tracks (albeit slowly) for their current game. Hit the jump for the list of tracks in the upcoming Virtuoso Pack.

Well, E3 is over, which means this week will no doubt be a little slower on the major gaming announcements. However, you can always count on the guys at Harmonix to bring us a little something new every week. This week they’ve given us some Nine Inch Nails and Shinedown to look forward to.

I have to admit that my love for Metallica has been waning over the past several years. Not only has their music not been as great, but ever since they started promoting the suing of fans for downloading music, I’ve just not been as excited by their music. One place that I still enjoy hearing it is in both Guitar Hero and Rock Band.  Well it looks like I might actually purchase their latest album, this time for Guitar Hero, marking the first time I’ve cared to obtain an entire Metallica album in a decade or so.

Rock Band Weekly DLC – The Who

By Chris on Monday, Jul 14th 2008 No Comments

The week of E3 is always big (even if the show is getting smaller and smaller with each passing year), so this week’s DLC should be equally as large. We’ve been expecting a full album from The Who, however, due to some missing masters, we’ll just have to settle for an awesome compilation of Who tracks.

This week’s DLC update brings us a curious mix of Rush and the Red Hot Chili Peppers. Rather than the usual trio of songs that we’re used to seeing, we get two songs from each band. But that’s not the only strange thing about this week’s content. Hit the jump to see what I mean.

How many of you have seen the movie Top Gun? Now, of those people, how many of you had aspirations of one day flying your own F-14 Tomcat? If you answered yes to the first question but no to the second, you’re lying. Everyone wanted to fly a jet after that movie. That, and buy a motorcycle. Well since most of us didn’t actually live out that dream, we’ll just have to settle for downloading the movie’s theme song on Guitar Hero III.

A little while back it was announced that Rock Band was going to be rocking Crüefest, which kicks off today. So it only makes sense for Harmonix to release a few Crüefest-themed tracks, right? Hit the jump to see what will be available for download today.
