Disney’s Epic Mickey franchise coming to 3DS

There's been a lot of hype lately surrounding the recently announced Epic Mickey sequel for the PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii. But that's not the only new title Disney is bringing to the franchise. It has also been confirmed that a completely new and exclusive adventure in Mickey Mouse's epic saga will be heading to the Nintendo 3DS. This entry will be titled Epic Mickey: The Power of Illusion, and will obviously be the first in the series to go to a handheld platform.

Epic Mickey 2 developer spills the beans

The sequel to Epic Mickey has been confirmed, and the excitement is already starting to spread. Now, the covers are really starting to be unraveled as developer Warren Spector begins to explain all the unique gameplay mechanics that will be part of the experience. In addition to being presented in HD, the sequel will be available to whole new customer segments. While the original Epic Mickey was only available on the Wii, the next entry will be on all three major consoles.

Disney’s Epic Mickey 2 confirmed, detailed

The addictingly unique and boldly unexpected adventure game Epic Mickey is heading for a sequel. This was always a question of when, not if, but now we are starting to get some of the first details about what the new entry in what could be a long-running franchise will entail. For starters, Epic Mickey 2 will be available on all major platforms (PS3, Xbox 360, and Wii), not just the Wii. Second, the story will be presented as a musical, a nod to the classic format of vintage animated Disney movies.

Hollywood partners with Wal-Mart to offer “disc-to-digital” scheme

The movie industry have been scrambling to find the best solution to piracy lately. Last month Fox and Warner Bros. partnered with SanDisk and Western Digital to launch their “Project Phenix” initiative, allowing you to move DRM laced content via their hard drives. The digital locker service UltraViolet also launched back in January, and reportedly has 750,000 registered users so far.

Starz is ending its streaming content contract with Netflix and will be yanking all of its Starz Play titles from the service in the very near future. Starz was one of the strongest Netflix content partners because it was able to bring Disney movies to the platform, as well as titles from Sony Pictures. However, because of the complicated licensing issues between Disney/Sony and Starz, and the agreements Netflix had with the Xbox 360, the companies involved started renegotiating their contract.

When you pick up an iPad 2, you know you're in for a great experience in all forms of working with the tablet form factor - in software, in hardware, and in camera-wait, the camera is terrible - that's why when the Disney-branded Sakar AppClix camera came up this week in our news barrel, we payed attention. What this camera does is attach to the bottom of your iPad in the iPod 30-pin port and acts as a camera that begins to bring you into a reasonable space for shooting photos and videos. Amazon and Netflix spar over streaming with Disney-ABC deal

Netflix and Amazon have each bolstered their streaming media catalogs, as the two rivals continue to spar over which has the fullest offering of TV shows and movies. Netflix announced an extension of its Disney-ABC deal that will see new and back-catalog titles including Alias and Switched At Birth added to the roster, while Amazon has revealed a Disney-ABC deal of its own that will see many of the same shows available to Amazon Prime customers and Kindle Fire users.

Though this particular Google doodle doesn't necessarily do anything all that fantastic when it comes to Web 2.0, it was and continues to be the utterly engaging artwork that Mary Blair had mastery over that continues to be the center point on this, the 100th year since she was born to this earth. If you don't recognize the style of the work that Google has replicated here, you'll certainly know the background illustrations from these classic Disney films: "Cinderella," "Peter Pan," and "Alice in Wonderland." Once again Google hits on a reminder of what was certainly a gift from beyond in this lovely artist.

For those of you following the sale of Hulu - oh wait, you didn't know Hulu was for sale? Well it was, not it isn't.
