Nikon D4 Thunderbolt rumor suggests high-speed tethered video

Intel name-checked a number of storage and A/V companies on board with Thunderbolt and expecting to release products using the new 10Gbps port found on the early 2011 MacBook Pro, but we're already hearing other rumors about potential adopters currently flying under the radar. Sony super-fast CMOS promises 17.7MP 120fps video capture

Sony has apparently developed a super-fast CMOS sensor for use in digital cameras and cellphones, which can process images five times faster than its predecessors. The unnamed sensor, The Nikkei [registration required] reports, is able to "convert multiple pixels into signals simultaneously," and in the process scythes conversion times by 75-percent. Leica denies Micro Four Thirds plans: M9 as small as it gets

Leica has denied rumors it intends to join the Micro Four Thirds ecosystem, despite reports in Europe that it was preparing to launch a mirrorless camera based on Panasonic's LUMIX models. "We have no information on anything like that at the moment" a Leica spokesperson told Amateur Photographer, going on to point out that "With the Leica M9 we have the most compact, full-format, mirrorless camera with interchangeable lenses on the market." $76 Micro Four Thirds/NEX lenses promised as China weighs in

Samsung outs five NX Series lenses: super-zoom, pancake & more

Samsung has announced a five-strong line up of new NX Series interchangeable lenses, doubling the options on offer for cameras like the NX Hybrid. Survey Says: Consumers want easier, not cooler gadgets

According to a new survey, more than half of American and British consumers would rather have an easy to use gadget that works consistently, than a "cool," but complicated gadget.  The survey also says that while consumers will embrace innovation and pay extra for smarter devices that can automatically handle their daily needs, but they're becoming extremely frustrated with gadgets that freeze or crash on a regular basis.  Does this mean that new technologies are moving faster than the public can embrace them?  The survey seems to suggest so. Sony translucent mirror DSLR prototype gets covetable casing

Embedded head camera project in trouble as artist’s body rejects implant

NYU assistant professor and would-be artist Wafaa Bilal has encountered a new problem with the embedded camera attached to the back of his head: not only are there arguments about whether it counts as art, his body is rejecting the implanted mount. Sony E-mount interchangeable lens spec goes public in April

Sony opted not to use the Micro Four Thirds standard for its NEX interchangeable lens cameras, instead developing its own E-mount system, and now it plans to open that technology up for third-party lens manufacturers. As well as allowing for third-party E-mount lenses for use with the NEX-3, NEX-5 and NEX-VG10 cameras, it will also allow for mount adapters for other manufacturers' lenses to be attached to Sony's models. Samsung PL20 and ES80 budget point-and-shoots revealed

Samsung has outed a pair of new digital cameras, the PL20 and ES80, each priced at under $120 but still offering up to 14-megapixel resolution.
