Olympus‘ snazzy E-P5 camera has been the source of a couple leaks today, with it first having its specs leaked by an unnamed source to the folks over at 43rumors, only for that to be followed up by leaked images on Mobile 01. Word has it that the camera will be officially announced in early May, although the source wasn’t clear on when exactly, and nothing has been stated by Olympus.

According to the various leaks and sources, the Olympus E-P5 will be offered to consumers in three varieties: black, white, and silver. The cameras will feature 17mm, 45mm, and 75mm offerings, and a shutter speed as fast as 1/8000th of a second. In addition, the specs are pointing at some improved features over the previous E-M5 digital camera.

Image stabilization is said to be new and improved, offering 5-axis stabilization with an IS-Auto mode, which allows for improved stabilization over the E-M5, as well as better auto focus and all-around clearer photographs. Under the hood, users will find a TruePic VI engine for image processing, as well as the E-M5′s 16-megapixel image sensor.

There is said to be focus peaking and a 5-frames-per-second shooting burst mode for rapid image capture. The display, which you can see in the gallery below, is on a hinge and can be tilted. And a feature that is beloved by many, the E-P5 is also said to offer integrated Wi-Fi for easy image transfer, possibly as well as remote display viewing and remote control of the device. Word has it we’ll be hearing something official on May 9th or 10th.

Samsung‘s latest smart camera has broken cover, the NX2000, pairing a 20.3-megapixel APS-C sensor with a sizable touchscreen and integrated WiFi, NFC, and remote app support. Replacing last year’s NX1000, the Samsung SMART Camera NX2000 can fire off stills at up to 8fps or record Full HD 1080p video, as well as swap lenses with Samsung’s range of twelve options, including a 3D capture lens.

On the camera side of things, there’s Samsung’s DRIMe IV engine for processing noise reduction and colors, with a maximum shutter speed of 1/4000th of a second and ISO 100-25600. There’s also a smart mode, for macro and panoramic shots, as well as more gimmicky photography like “best face” and “beauty face” which automatically processes those in-frame to smooth out skin and remove blemishes.

For video, there’s 2D capture in 30fps or 24fps and 3D capture – with the right lens – at 30fps. The NX2000 outputs in MPEG4 AVC/H.264 format with AAC audio, saving to microSDXC card.

On the “smart” side, meanwhile, there’s a 3.7-inch WVGA touchscreen to control the camera, and integration with social networks for directly squirting off your images over a WiFi connection. WiFi Direct is supported, over WiFi b/g/n, and an onboard email client can be used for more old-fashioned sending of shots. Pair the NX2000 with Samsung’s SMART CAMERA App – a simple matter of tapping it with an NFC-enabled phone – and you can use the software as a remote viewfinder, as well as take advantage of its data connection.

Samsung will offer the NX2000 in three color variants – white, black, and pink – priced at $649.99.

Panasonic has been busy this week trotting out several new digital cameras. A few days ago, we talked about the new LF1 and G6 digital cameras from Panasonic. Panasonic is back with another new digital camera featuring 10 custom designs on the outside. The camera is called the Lumix XS1.

The camera boasts a thin profile that Panasonic claims is the world’s thinnest for a camera featuring a 5x retractable zoom lens and optical image stabilization. The camera has a 24 mm ultra-wide-angle lens and has 13 in-camera creative effects. Panasonic also integrates its Mega Optical Image Stabilizer technology into the camera to keep your images blur free.

The XS1 offers 16.1-megapixel resolution and has an aperture range of F2.8-6.9. The camera’s focal length is equivalent to 24-120 mm in 35mm camera. It also supports the recording of HD resolution video.

Bursts can be shot in high-speed mode and rated 10 frames per second at reduced resolution. The camera is also now available with 10 different custom designs on the outside of the camera body. It offers designs like various animal skins, camouflage, flowers, and several others. The camera can be ordered right now in any of the 10 new designs, but Panasonic didn’t offer the official pricing details.

Fujifilm‘s JZ-series features long-zoom compact digital cameras, of which the FinePix JZ700 is the latest addition, featuring an 8x optical zoom and a wide-angle lens. These features are accompanied by several others you’d fine in many modern digital cameras, such as full HD recording and a 14-megapixel CMOS sensor. One of the camera’s main selling points is its thin body, which measures in at 18.9mm thick.

While the camera has fairly standard features, it does offer optical image stabilization, which is a welcomed feature in any camera, especially compacts, which usually offer digital stabilization instead and are especially prone to image shake when recording video. And while the previous JZ-series cameras utilized a CCD camera sensor, the latest model uses a CMOS sensor that is said to provide better low-light captures.

There’s a burst mode for capturing rapidly-moving subjects, such as events during sports games or active child who have trouble posing for an image. The continuous shooting mode has a maximum of 8 images per burst, shooting at a rate of up to 8-frames-per-second when taken at full resolution. Dropping the resolution down will speed up the burst rate by a tenth of a second, which isn’t much but might be a sliver long enough to catch that once-in-a-lifetime shot.

Videos can be recorded in 1080p HD at 30 frames-per-second, with the announcement also mentioning a 200fps recording mode without additional details. Presumably, users will need to drop the recording resolution very low to use the slow-mo mode. There are filters for photos, such as Toy Camera and Miniature. Such effects can be previewed on the 2.7-inch LCD display before snapping the picture.

Sony has officially unveiled its latest entry in the digital recording binoculars market. The new product is called the DEV-50V and it is the second generation of digital recording binoculars from Sony. Compared to the first generation product, the new binoculars are smaller, lighter, and weatherproof. Sony has made a number of improvements to the functionality of the new digital recording binoculars.

The binoculars have a wide zoom magnification range from 0.8x to 25x and feature autofocus. The product also has integrated image stabilization to keep images from being excessively shaky at high zoom levels. The binoculars also capable of recording both 2-D and 3-D images, even in lowlight situations.

The 50V binoculars have a 20.4-megapixel image sensor and can shoot still photos as well as video. Audio recorded along with the video is in stereo format. The binoculars use XGA OLED Tru-Finder electronic viewfinders promising better resolution and contrast for each eye. The image sensor is a Sony Exmor R CMOS unit.

The binoculars also make use of Sony’s BIONZ image processors to provide stereoscopic 3-D images if desired. Users can directly connect the binoculars to a TV using a HDMI output for viewing of images and accessory cable. Power comes from a high-capacity rechargeable battery pack allowing three hours of 2-D recording per charge. The DEV-50V digital recording binoculars will launch in June at a retail price of about $2000.

Sony has unveiled a compact camera that features quite a bit of eye-catching hardware, including a 20.4-megapixel Exmor R CMOS sensor and 30x optical zoom. It offers these in a very light and small body, however, making it the smallest and most lightweight compact 30x optical camera available, according to Sony. The HX50V weighs 9.6-ounces, and measures in at 4.4 x 2.6 x 1.2-inches.

The Cybershot HX50V utilizes Optical SteadyShot, which is both welcomed and rather essential for producing clear images at the high zoom rates this camera offers. In comparison, 2012′s HX200V model from Sony only offered half this stabilization effectiveness at full zoom. Inside, users will find a BIONZ processor and integrated Wi-Fi, which enables use with a mobile device via the Sony PlayMemories Mobile app. The app allows for both remote control and wireless transfer.

The hardware offered lends itself to more than point-and-shoot photography, and so users who want manual control can use the P/A/S/M modes available via a dial. In addition, an external flash, viewfinder, and microphone, among other accessories, will be available for use via a Multi Interface Shoe. If users don’t want to use a mobile device for remote control, a separate one can be used via a Multi Terminal.

As far as video goes, the Cybershot HX50V can record in up to full high definition utilizing the Optical SteadyShot to keep the video smooth. Tying it in with its BRAVIA TVs, this camera is compatible with Sony’s TRIMUNIOUS Color tech. And finally, there are photo filters, which is quickly becoming the norm on compact cameras. Users will be able to apply effects to both photos and videos.

Available in May for $450.

Aptina has announced a new 14-megapixel CMOS image sensor aimed specifically at digital cameras. The new CMOS image sensor is called the AR1411HS and will add another option in the popular one-inch sensor format. Aptina says that the image sensor will combine spectacular image quality with extremely fast frame rates.

The sensor will also support high-resolution video recording. Aptina notes that the new sensor has attracted the attention from some of the leading mirrorless camera makers on the market today. That means the sensor will end up turning up in a number of interchangeable lens cameras before long.

The image sensor takes advantage of Aptina DR-Pix technology to deliver image quality in low light and brightly lit scenes. The sensor is also able to output full 14-megapixel resolution at frame rates of up to 80 FPS. Aptina says the sensor is also capable of providing full 4K video resolution at 60 frames per second.

When using the sensor to record standard full HD resolution video, it’s capable of recording at 120 frames per second. That means the image sensor can shoot full HD resolution video for incredibly slow motion playback. The sensor can also take full resolution photographs without interrupting the 1080p HD video stream.

Pentax has unveiled the GR, a Ricoh-brand compact camera it touts as offering “top image quality” in a body small enough to slip in a pocket. The combination of features and size make it an option for those who want higher-end features for fairly demanding photography sessions without the bulk and physical burden of larger cameras. We’ve got a run down of the specs after the jump.

The Ricoh GR is said to build upon the previous GR DIGITAL series, retaining the concept of the product while boosting its specifications and features to create a modern, attractive device. The GR utilizes the GR ENGINE V image processing engine, as well as an APS-C-size CMOS sensor that clocks in at a tad over 16-megapixels. All of this combines to offer an advantage in high-sensitivity shooting situations, according to Pentax.

Focus comes in many forms, with the standard auto-focus button offering an automatic focusing feature, and on the other end there’s manual focus accompanied by a manual focus assist feature to make sure the images come out clear. There’s an aperture preview button as well, with the auto-focus and aperture buttons being new additions to the GR-series of cameras. ISO maxes out at 25600.

Videos can be recorded in full 1080p high definition in 16:9 widescreen format at 30-frames-per-second. In addition, there are a variety of different shooting functions, including a multi-pattern auto white balance mode, dynamic range compensation, and interval composite. Finally, for easy transfer, the GR camera is compatible with the wireless-transfer Eye-Fri SD card, allowing photographers to go wire-free.

Available next month for $800.

Tascam has announced its new audio recorder aimed for on-set videographers and filmmakers who utilize DSLRs for video recording. The DR-60D is being touted as a recorder designed specifically for video workers, removing the need to use larger recorders that are meant for music recording. There’s no word yet on release date or pricing, but we have a run down of the recorder’s specifications after the jump.

The DR-60D is a relatively compact device that runs off of four AA batteries and supports SD and SDHC cards, offering 96kHz / 24-bit audio recording and USB file transfer from the 4-track solid-state system to a computer. Audio can be recorded in both BWF and WAV formats using either Auto Rec or Dual Rec mode, depending on the project. The unit is designed to fit beneath a DSLR unit, but can also be implemented into a recording rig.

The DR-60D boasts two quarter-inch XLR Locking Combo Mic/Line inputs (+48V Phantom Power), a standard 3.5mm stereo mic line-in port, camera in/out, line out, and headphone out. There’s a self-timer, file divide, up to CH3-4 monitor selector, +24dBu input, low cut filter, peak limiter, input delay, and MS decode, among other features, all tailored to the needs of both amateurs and pros.

As for manual control, the body itself was designed to avoid introducing unnecessary noise from handling into the audio; this includes the use of its soft buttons and its dials. Tascam hails its user interface system as being easy to use, with intuitive controls and multiple recording modes, including an automatic mode and its popular Safety Track mode.

Fujifilm has rolled out its second camera for the day, this time introducing the super rugged FinePix XP200, which has a sporty outdoors-centric design that looks tough enough to handle a tumble down a mountain side. Less you be tempted to think this camera is all looks, however, it also boasts a variety of higher-end features, some related to its ruggedness and others offering the various functionality you’d expect from a camera in this range.

First up is its durability, with the camera boasting a handful of features that makes it an outdoorsy camera worthy of trips to harsh environments. The FinePix XP200 is waterproof to depths of 15-meters, with Fujifilm boasting that it offers “crystal clear quality” when submerged. Likewise, the camera is shockproof against drops from heights up to 2-meters, and is dustproof. If you’re one to tread into cold territory, you’ll be happy to know the camera is also freezeproof, able to withstand temps down to -10C.

Those features aside, the XP200 also offers wireless image transfer to both computers and mobile devices via either the Fujifilm PC AutoSave program or the Fujifilm Camera Application, depending on which device you want to transfer the images. Both images and videos can be transfered, although there is a 30 image per transfer limitation when moving pictures from the camera to a tablet or smartphone. Both Android and iOS is supported.

Because the camera is aimed at those engaging in rugged – and likely fast-paced – activites, the XP200 also offers a 10 frames-per-second continuous shooting mode. If that’s not enough, there’s also an ultra-high-speed mode that can snap 60 frames-per-second for a maximum of 60 frames. Continuous mode is activated by a dedicated button on the back of the camera, meaning you won’t have to toggle around the menu before getting that here-now-and-then-gone shot.

The camera will be available in yellow, red, black, and blue in May for $300.

Olympus has introduced its new VH-520, a compact digital camera offering full 1080p high-definition recording, as well as a variety of other features. Its slim design and colorful options aside, this unit boasts excellent low-light quality due to iHS technology, which is, as the company points out, often only found in larger cameras at higher price points, making it the VH-520′s most appealing feature.

The Olympus VH-520 offers a 14-megapixel CMOS sensor, and utilizes the TruePic V processor, which was first developed for use in digital SLR cameras. Zoom is fairly high at 10x optical zoom with a digital boost to 20x, and image stabilization is achieved in the form of lens-shift. ISO range goes up to 6400, and there’s HDR Backlight Adjustment. The display is a cool 3-inches.

There are also a some decent video recording specs to talk about, including the ability to record in full high definition, as well as High Speed Movie mode, which provides slow motion playback. For sharp videos, there’s also a Multi-motion Move IS mode, and audio is recorded in stereo to provide a soundtrack that is the same quality as its full HD video counterpart.

Finally, images and video can be edited with Magic Filters, which are presets available for photographers to apply effects to recorded and saved content a la Instagram and other similar popular photography apps. The Olympus VH-520 compact digital camera will be available in red, purple, blue, black, and brown in April for €149.99.

The folks over at Fujifilm have officially launched the company’s new S8400W, a long-zoom camera offering 44x optical zoom, full high-definition video recording, and wireless transfer capabilities. All of these features are wrapped up in a compact prosumer camera body that has a dSLR-like design with the conveniences of a point-and-shoot device. You can check out a gallery of the camera after the jump.

First up is the long-zoom, which is one of the camera’s biggest claims to fame. The S8400W features optical image stabilization to help ensure that images come out sharp even when the zoom is being utilized to its maximum. This is on top of an autofocus speed of 0.3-seconds and a half-second interval between images.

The S8400W features a BSI-CMOS 16-megapixel sensor and offers a high ISO of up to 12,800. The camera has a rapid start-up speed of a single second, helping ensure that, in combination with the fast autofocus and optical image stablization, you get the image you want just as it happens. Taking advantage of this hardware, this FinePix camera also have an outstanding burst mode, which allows photographers to take shots at 60 frames-per-second at a resolution of 1280 x 960 and 120fps at half that resolution.

We have talked about a couple new digital cameras from Canon this morning. Canon has launched a third new camera today that fits into the company’s EOS Rebel line of digital SLR offerings. The new cameras called the EOS Rebel T5i and it’s the flagship model in the EOS Rebel line.

The T5i uses an 18-megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor. The camera also uses the Canon DIGIC 5 Image Processor and boasts an ISO range of 100-12,800. That ISO range can be expanded to 25,600 in H mode. Canon promises that the new digital camera will deliver crisp and detailed images in lowlight conditions and can shoot continuously up to five frames per second.

The digital camera also boasts a cross-type autofocus with nine points of focus. The camera supports Live View mode and has a three-inch touchscreen LCD on the back. Canon has also unveiled a new lens to go along with the camera called the EF-S 18-55 mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM that comes in the standard kit lens bundle. The camera uses the Stepping Motor technology allowing the lens to smoothly and silently focus on the subject automatically.

The rear LCD is a variable angle unit offering intuitive touch controls making the camera easy to use for new photographers. As with any DSLR, the T5i has a wide range of full manual controls and creativity features. The camera features seven integrated Creative Filters and special handheld Night Scene, HDR Backlight Control, and Multi-Shot Noise Production modes. The camera can shoot full HD resolution video using a special movie mode. The camera body will be available in April starting at $749.99. Bundled with the previously mentioned kit lens the camera will sell for $899.99. A second bundle priced at $1099 will feature an EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM lens.

Canon has rolled out a dSLR camera earns the title of “world’s smallest and lighest,” offering a host of features you’d expect from Canon digital SLR paired with a body less than 5-inches wide and weighing less than 15 ounces. This makes it smaller than the EOS Rebel T4i by about 25-percent, and a good solution for those who need to take professional images without the burden of a hulking device.

You can see a visual representation of the SL1′s small size in the first image in the gallery below, which contrasts it with the T4i (represented by the blue outline). The SL1 measures in at 4.6-inches wide by 3.57-inches high by 2.74-inches thick, weighing 14.36 ounces. While the small size is one of its most alluring features, it also has a lot to offer in its hardware specs.

The Rebel SL1 has an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor with an ISO range from 100 to 12,800 for photos, as well as ISO to 6,400 for videos. There’s a DIGIC 5 Image Processor, giving the SL1 the power to snap 4-frames-per-second. The autofocus is a nine-point system utilizing a Hybrid CMOS AF II sensor, as well as Movie Servo AF for video recording. Around back there’s a 3-inch touchscreen Clear View LCD that supports multi-touch gestures.

Canon’s Executive Vice President and General Manager of Imaging Technologies and Communications Yuichi Ishizuki had this to say: “The EOS Rebel SL1 Digital SLR Camera represents a new era in DSLR versatility: ultra-portable, full-featured DSLR cameras. The EOS Rebel SL1 combines the high speed, high image quality and expanded shooting range of a DSLR camera, with the easy and fun usability of a point-and-shoot camera.”

The EOS Rebel SL1 is slated for release next month at $649.99 for the body and $799.99 for a EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS STM kit lens.

Canon has unveiled its PowerShot SX280 HS digital camera, a compact device that offers super zoom as well as both wifi connectivity and GPS for geotagging. Despite its small size, this compact camera boasts sophisticated specs, making it an option for those who need something small and easy to transport without sacrificing the latest tech features. We have a gallery of the camera after the jump.

Inside, users will find a DIGIC 6 Image Processor, as well as a 12.1-megapixel sensor. This combination helps to ensure that images are both high-quality and able to be shot in rapid succession. The ISO goes up to 6400, and low-light images are lower noise than you might get in some other compact devices due to the high-sensitivity sensor.

The SX280 HS offers full high definition video recording in up to 60fps, offering Dynamic Image Stabilization to prevent blurs. Content taken with this camera can be geotagged thanks to the integrated GPS receiver, which tags photos as you take them. Likewise, there’s integrated on Wi-Fi connectivity to make sharing images simple. When paired with the CameraWindow app, photographers can transfer photos from the camera to an Android or iOS device.

Yuichi Ishizuka, Canon’s Executive Vice President and General Manager of its Imaging Technologies and Communication Group, said: “Canon recognizes the importance of capturing the highest quality images possible and sharing them instantly and easily. The PowerShot SX280 HS Digital Camera with its impressive features provides users the resources to shoot in almost any situation and the creative tools to help capture their vision.”

The PowerShot SX280 is set for release next month for $329.99.

Nikon has unveiled two new Coolpix cameras, the Coolpix A and Coolpix P330. The Coolpix A is hailed as the company’s first Coolpix camera to offer a DX-format sensor, bringing a dSLR element into a compact camera. The Coolpix P330, meanwhile, is designed to be a mixture between higher-end specs and a slim, pocketable body. Check out a gallery of both cameras after the jump.

The Coolpix A is Nikon’s first DX-format Coolpix camera, allowing photographers to snap very high-quality images from a compact camera, comparable in quality to Nikon’s DSLRs. The 16.2-megapixel camera utilizes a NIKKOR 18.5mm lens with an f/2.8 aperture. The camera offers a 4-frame burst mode, and manual P/S/A/M settings, as well as several scene modes for different shooting situations. The camera can shoot in RAW/NEF, and can be used in conjunction with the DF-CP1 Optical Viewfinder, UR-E24 Adapter Ring, and the HN-CP18 Lens Hood.

The Coolpix P330 features a wide-angle lens, offering 5x optical zoom, as well as a 12.2-megapixel 1/1.7-inch BSI (backside illuminated) CMOS sensor. This camera boasts having the fastest lens available in a Coolpix camera, offering low noise levels in low-light settings. The camera can record in full HD 1080p, and features Vibration Reduction IS for sharp, clear images. The camera gives users advanced control with manual P/A/S/M controls, and can shoot in RAW and NRW. There’s integrated GPS for photo tagging as well.

Nikon’s VP of Marketing, Planning, and Customer Experience Bo Kajiwara said, “The introduction of the COOLPIX A, as Nikon’s flagship COOLPIX camera, provides uncompromised image quality and incredibly sharp detail in a compact point-and-shoot camera. As the first COOLPIX to use a DX-format sensor, the COOLPIX A will exceed expectations for its unsurpassed performance. The COOLPIX A, along with the COOLPIX P330, demonstrates the forward-looking direction of the Advanced Performance COOLPIX line, and packs all of the benefits of Nikon’s optical heritage and imaging experience into a compact, yet powerful package.”

Both cameras will be released this month in Black and Silver. The Coolpix A will be priced at $1,099.95, while the Coolpix P330 will be priced at $379.95.

The device boasts HD video recording, lens-shift Vibration Reduction technology, and a variety of modes for different shooting situations. The camera will be available later this month in red, purple, silver, orange, and decorative pink for $139.95.

The camera is about what you’d expect from a modern point-and-shoot, with relatively basic specs that meet the needs of most everyday casual users. The camera itself was designed with a slim body for easy handling and transport to your favorite events or gatherings. It offers a wide-angle NIKKOR lens with 7x optical zoom. This is more than any of the other compacts in Nikon’s budget Coolpix category.

Images comes out clear despite shakes and movement due to the Lens-Shift Vibration Reduction technology, and can then be edited with the software’s integrated editing functions. Quick Effects and Glamour Retouch are both included, allowing users to retouch images and add some “glamour” effects, such as blush on cheeks and skin softening.

Says Nikon’s Vice President of Marketing, Planning, and Customer Experience Bo Kajiwara, “Nikon’s budget friendly COOLPIX lineup provides the shooting capabilities and feature sets needed to preserve every memory, while also offering convenience and affordability. The new COOLPIX S3500 is the ideal choice for the stylish, on-the-go consumer that never wants to miss a moment.”

In 2012, ADR Studio created a Socialmatic Instagram concept camera, which is now set to become a reality. Socialmatic announced earlier this week that it signed an MoU agreement with C&A Licensing allowing it to make a Poloroid digital camera with instant printing capabilities. All the details are still unknown, but you can see the concept image after the jump.

Official details, such as its design and specifications, haven’t been finalized, but word has it the camera will be launched in 2014. Along with the device will be a line of accessories specific to it, such as filters, lenses, and camera bags. This indicates the company expects the device to be popular, a reasonable expectation given the enthusiasm that spread across the Internet when the concept was produced.

If the camera follows closely to the concept, users can expect a generously-sized 4.3-inch touchscreen display on the back, as well as 16GB of internal storage. The device will print instant photographs from an integrated printer. Connectivity could then be comprised of both Bluetooth and standard Wi-Fi. It is reasonable to assume the on-board operating system could be Android, although everything is speculation at this point.

Socialmatic’s CEO Antonio De Rosa said: “We are so proud to work together with C & A and Polaroid, giants of digital photography. It has been a long and difficult negotiation but we were strongly motivated to reach an agreement to create a small revolution in digital photography. This mix of Hardware and Software, together with our brand new photo social network will fill the gap between virtuality and reality.”

Nikon has unveiled its new D7100 flagship camera, a 24-megapixel powerhouse with a variety of features and high-end specs, including wireless connectivity. Dubbed an HD-SLR, the D7100 is aimed at professionals, and is touted as offering exceptional image quality and high-definition video. The camera is slated for release next month, and will have an SRP of $1,599.95.

The Nikon D7100 features a DX-format CMOS sensor, 51-point auto focus, and an ISO range from 100 to 6400. One of the camera’s bragging points is low noise levels, as well as a fast response time. Photographers can snap images at 6fps, or 7fps at a smaller resolution. To ensure that nothing slows the camera down unnecessarily, the device supports SDXC and UHS-1 cards.

For ensuring that images are always properly framed, this flagship device features a large 3.2-inch LCD display with a 1229k dots resolution. If LCDs aren’t your thing, there’s also an OLED optical viewfinder offering 100-percent framing. Video can be recorded at 1080p and played back on an HDTV via an HDMI cable. There are Creative Effects that can be used with videos in real time to apply customizing effects, such as Color Sketch.

Said Nikon’s Vice President of Marketing, Planning and Customer Experience Bo Kajiwara, “The D7100 blends the best creative features with advanced-level functionality to give the enthusiast exactly what they want– and that’s a great shooting experience before, during and after capture, from shooting to sharing.”

First up is the WX300, which Sony boasts as the world’s lightest and smallest camera available with 20x optical zoom. This super-zoom compact features a wide-angle Sony G Lens, and utilizes SteadyShot for blur-free images. According to the announcement, this camera features double the image stabilization of the last Cybershot 20x zoom camera. Likewise, autofocus is said to be 3.6x faster than the previous model. There’s integrated Wi-Fi that allows photographers to utilizes their smartphone as a remote, as well as making it easy to send images to the cloud without using an SD card and computer.

The HX300 offers quite a bit more zoom at 50x optical, which is just about the highest you’ll find on a compact camera. The HX300 is designed to resemble a dSLR, but does not have an interchangeable lens, instead offering a Carl Zeiss Vario-Sonnar T with a coating to reduce flares and reflections. There’s on-board Optical SteadyShot for blur-free images, as well as a high-speed autofocus for a combination that produces sharp, clear images.

Last but not least is the TX30, which is designed for outdoor use, offering protection against freezing temperatures and jostles. The camera is waterproof to 10 meters, and is likewise dustproof. Touted as the world’s thinnest compact digital camera, the TX30 features 5x optical zoom and a Magnifying Glass Plus zoom mode that takes it to 15x.

All three cameras can be pre-ordered now, and will be released next month.

The newly announced a58 from Sony is a dSLR camera that utilizes Translucent Mirror technology and offers a variety of features for just about every type of photographer. The 20.1-megapixel a58 utilizes the BIONZ image processor, which is known for its low-noise and high ISO sensitivity. This interchangeable lens camera supports A-mount lenses, of which there are 35 options available.

The Sony a58 combines an Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor, BIONZ processing engine, and SteadyShot INSIDE image stabilization to produce images that are low-noise, blur-free, and high-resolution. The biggest advantage of this camera over other dSLRs in its range is the Translucent Mirror technology, which directs lights onto two compontents in the camera – the image sensor, and the autofocus sensor. By doing so, there’s no use for a mirror, and images stay in focus at all times. This makes the unit particularly attractive to those who frequently photograph moving subjects.

Another handy feature for those who take action photography is the Telezoom Continuous Advance Priority AE mode, which allows users to snap photos at 8 frames-per-second. This works in combination with a 15-point auto focus and Lock-On auto focus to ensure each image taken is blur-free. In addition, the a58 is equipped with a high resolution OLED Tru-Finder and a tilt-angle LCD, providing two ways to get the shot you want.

Like the recently announced NEX-3N camera from Sony, the a58 features Auto Object Framing, the next step up from Auto Portrait Framing. With this feature, the camera determines the subject of an image and auto-crops the photograph so that the subject is framed in a professional manner, no effort required. After the image is taken, 15 photo filters are available to select from, including Mono, Partial Color, and Toy Camera.

The Sony a58 will be available in April.

Sony has unveiled its new NEX-3N camera, which is touted as offering professional-quality images from a light, compact body. This super compact camera weighs 210 grams, and offers a variety of features, both in terms of hardware and software. Those who want the quality and many features of a dSLR without the hassle will likely find the NEX-3N an intriguing, attractive camera.

The NEX-3N is an E-mount camera with an integrated flash and 3-inch LCD display, which can be flipped 180-degrees for easier photography sessions in many positions. There’s a zoom lever directly on the camera to make zooming easy when using a compatible lens, which can also be used to adjust digital zoom. Inside, users will find a BIONZ processor.

The ISO goes up to a high 16,000, and is offered in conjunction with hardware-level area-specific noise reduction. The noise reduction feature can be adjusted by the user for the best combination of sharpness and reduction; the best part, however, is that it can be adjusted for specific areas on an image. Sony boasts that low-light images still come out crisp with low noise in the absence of the flash.

The NEX-3N features an Exmor APS HD CMOS 16.1-megapixel sensor, as well as Auto Object Framing, which automatically determines the subject of a photograph and crops the image accordingly, producing a professionally framed image. Finally, the camera supports E-mount lenses, allowing for the creation of professional-looking blur effects without hassle. Telephoto, wide-angle, macro, and zoom lenses are all available.

No word on pricing yet.

Casio has announced two new stylish digital cameras, the EX-N5 and the EX-N50. Both cameras share features like Color, Materials, and Finishing (CMF) designs and easy-to-grip bodies. Design is an important aspect of these cameras, with the body featuring smooth, rounded edges for a “mature, elegant” appearance. You can check out a gallery of the camera, as well as its specs, after the jump.

The EX-N5 is available in four colors: black, silver, white, and red, while the EX-N50 is available in three colors: red, blue, and silver. The former features a two-tone lens ring, while the latter has a pinstripe pattern across the body, making it easy to tell them apart. The N50 has a slightly larger body than the N5, weighing in at 132 grams versus the lighter model at 129 grams.

Aside from that, the cameras have the same specs, with both featuring a 16.1-megapixel CCD sensor and a 2.7-inch TFT display. Users can expect to snap about 180 photographs or record about 1.3 hours of continuous HD video per charge. Video can be recorded in up to 720p HD, with the lowest setting being 640 x 480.

Optical zoom is a decent 6x, with an additional 4x digital zoom for a total of 24x when using both. Images are kept clear via contrast detection auto focus, as well as a macro focus mode for up-close images. ISO ranges from 64 to 1600, and there are a variety of white balance options for proper exposure. To keep things simple, both devices support Eye-Fi and FlashAir wifi cards.

Casio has launched its new EX-ZS30 compact digital camera. This point-and-shoot is aimed at beginners and features all the things you’d expect in a modern compact digital camera wrapped up in a stainless steel body. You can check out the device’s specs, as well as a gallery of pictures after the jump.

The EX-ZS30 has a 20.1-megapixel CCD sensor, giving a high enough resolution for any average user’s needs. The body itself is made from stainless steel, and is available in five colors: pink, purple, white, silver, and black. All of the functions and features are pretty basic, not surprising considering that the handset itself is aimed at beginners and those who want a simple camera for snapping pictures of their kids, friends, and pets.

To keep things simple, around back users will find dedicated buttons for the most common tasks performed, such as viewing and deleting images. To ensure that images come out as clear as possible, the EX-ZS30 offers Premium Auto mode, which auto-chooses both the mode and the processing necessary for the setting. This includes such modes that typically have to be selected manually, such as macro and night scenes.

To give uses their Instagram-like filter fix, there are eight “artistic effects” that can be applied to images: Pop, Sepia, Monochrome, Light Tone, Soft Focus, Toy Camera, Fish Eye, and Miniature. There’s also something called Dynamic Photo, which according to the announcement allows photographers to select eight moving character presets and combine them with a photograph.

The press images for both the Sony Alpha A58 and Sony Alpha NEX-3N have been released. It was only a couple of weeks ago when we saw some leaked images of the NEX-3N. Alongside the press images, we also found some important details regarding the cameras. The Sony Alpha A58 will be a SLT camera, and the NEX-3N will be a mirrorless camera. There will be 3 lenses that will be announced with the new cameras as well.

The Alpha A58 featured in the image above will have a 20 Megapixel sensor with an improved dynamic range, and 8 frames per second shooting speed. It will have a new 18-55mm, f/3.5-5.6 II kit lens. It should be priced somewhere between $600-$700. The NEX-3N will have a 16 Megapixel sensor and is priced around $500-$600. The NEX-3N’s main selling point is the electronic zoom dial featured on the camera.

There will also be 3 lenses available for these cameras. There will be a Zeiss 50mm f/1.4 with a price-point of $1600 to $1700, an 18-55mm II for A mount priced at around $200 to $300, and a 70-400G F4.5-5.6 II priced at a whopping $2400 to $2500. While they may make you a better photographer, the price points of these lenses are pretty steep.

There is no release date yet for these cameras, and it has been speculated that the camera wouldn’t be announced until April, but considering that so many details about these cameras have already been leaked, we may be seeing an announcement for them in the upcoming weeks. Sony is hoping that the refresh of its Alpha camera series will somewhat quell the decline in its digital camera sales.

Sony is currently having a very difficult time in just about every market it participates in. The company has posted its eighth consecutive quarterly loss as demand for its game consoles, TVs, smartphones, and digital cameras decline. Sony recently sold its New York headquarters for $1.1 billion in an attempt to post a profit for its current fiscal year.

While Sony is fighting continued losses, the company is still moving forward with new products. Rumors continue to swirl that the company will be unveiling the PlayStation 4 on February 20. Some reports indicate that along with the unveiling of the new game console, Sony will also roll out new digital cameras. An alleged image of one of the new digital cameras will be shown at that event has now surfaced.

The camera is the NEX-3n and it is one of the interchangeable lens compact cameras that Sony has been offering the NEX series for a long time now. The source of the leaked image suggests that the new camera will use the same 16-megapixel image sensor used in the NEX-F3. One of the major reported differences between the two cameras is that the 3n has a zoom control button for automatically zooming attached lenses.

The new digital camera is tipped to be able to electrically drive the 16-50 mm PZ lens and a newly announced 18-200 mm PZ lens. No other specifications for the camera are known this time. There is apparently another rumor going around that this new digital camera and others may not be announced until sometime in April.

Olympus has unveiled its Stylus XZ-10, a compact camera with a sophisticated, classic design that is sure to appeal to many photographers. The point-and-shoot comes with fairly standard features, as well as support for FlashAir wireless image transfer, making it a solid mid-range compact model. You can check out the camera in all its colors and designs after the jump.

The Olympus Stylus XZ-10 features a 5x, f/1.8 – 2.5, 26mm to 130mm i.ZUIKO Digital optical zoom lens. The lens is treated with what Olympus calls its ZERO – which stands for ZUIKO Extra-low Reflection Optical – coating. This coating is inteded to reduce both flares and ghosting by halfing reflectivity. There’s a 3-inch, 920k TFT display, dual image stabilization, 5x optical zoom and 10x digital zoom, and a 12-megapixel sensor.

There’s a Super Macro mode that allows macro images to be taken as close as 1 centimeter, as well as an ND filter for exposure control. Videos can be recorded in slow-motion at 240fps/432 x 324 resolution, in 720p at 120fps and 720p widescreen at 30fps, and full 1080p HD at 30fps. Videos are recorded in MOV format (H.264 MPEG).

In the age of smartphones and Instagram, it’s not surprising that Olympus has also included both filters and what it calls Photo Story on the XZ-10. Photo Story allows users to take several images and combine them into one, hence telling a story with images. The photo filters include 5 art effect and 11 art filters. As can be seen in the image above, the camera will also be available with a vine-like design, presumably also aimed at the artistic among us.

The Stylus XZ-10 will be available in late February in black, white, and brown; price not yet specified.

The former camera boasts ultra-zoom and high-end image stabilization, while the latter is being hailed as having the longest battery life in its series, allowing users to take 515 photos on a charge. You can check out both cameras’ specs and gallery after the jump.

Both camera models feature the Exilim Engine HS Version 3, which enables a high-speed burst mode. There’s a Triple Shot function, which – as its name suggests – allows users to take three images per shutter press, ideal for those times when the subject is in action. Photographs that have been taken are displayed on a portion of both cameras’ LCDs while the rest of the display continues to function as a viewfinder, allowing for simultaneous review and image taking. Both models support Eye-Fi and Flash Air for wireless image transfer.

The EX-ZR700 features a startup time of 1.4 seconds, an auto focus speed of 0.18 seconds, a capture interval of 0.26 seconds, and a shutter response speed of 0.016 seconds. The EX-ZR400 is a tad faster, with a startup time of 0.99 seconds, an auto focus speed of 0.14 seconds, a capture interval time of 0.26 seconds, and a shutter response speed of 0.015 seconds. There’s an All-in-Focus Macro mode, which takes multiple images at different focuses, then combines them into a single image where all aspects are in focus. Another similar feature is Blurred Background, which places a soft blur on a photograph’s background.

The EX-ZR700 features a 25mm wide-angle lens, as well as 18x optical zoom and lens shift image stabilization for crisp images. With Multi-Frame SR Zoom technology, the camera’s total zoom is 36x. Casio states that even when using the long-zoom, images still come out blur-free. The model features a 3-inch, 920k LCD display.

The EX-ZR400′s biggest feature is its long battery life, which allows users to take approximately 515 photos per charge, making it ideal for vacations, hiking, or other situations where charging is inconvenient. This model features a 24mm wide-angle lens and 12.5x optical zoom, with a total zoom of 25x via Multi-Frame SR Zoom technology.

Both cameras bring long zoom to the table, as well as lightweight, easily-pocketable compact designs, with each being hailed as a travel camera for the on-the-go consumer. We have pictures of both models after the jump.

First up is the F850EXR, which features a 16-megapixel EXR-CMOS sensor, EXR Processor II, and 20x optical zoom. With the EXR Processor II, which is said to have double the processing speed of the first gen processor, the F850EXR has a focus speed of 0.21 seconds, startup time of 1.1 seconds, and 0.5 second shot interval. Videos can be recorded in full HD at 60fps via a dedicated recording button. Sound is recorded in stereo via an integrated stereo mic.

Meanwhile, the F900EXR has some upgrades over the 850, offering a 16-megapixel EXR-CMOS II backside illuminated sensor and EXR Processor II, which offers a 1.1 second startup speeds and 0.5 shot interval. The F900EXR offers Phase Detection auto focus as part of the Intelligent Hybrid AF system, allowing for focus speeds of only 0.5 seconds.

One of the 900 model’s best features is its support for wireless photo transfer to mobile devices and computers. Both PC software and mobile apps are available for photo backup syncing to devices. Image recording is similar to the 850, offering full HD video at 60fps utilizing Phase Detection AF and a dedicated recording button. For now, there’s no word on when we’ll see these two models on store shelves.

Fujifilm has announced six cameras in its S-series range, the S4600, S4700, S4800, and the S6600, S6700, and S6800. The first three are entry-level super zooms offering 720p HD video recording, while the latter three bring 1080i recording and high ISO to the table in addition to high optical zoom rates. Check out the specs and gallery of pictures after the jump.

First up are the entry-level FinePix S4600, S4700, and S4800 models, bridge models part of Fujifilm’s 2013 spring lineup. All three cameras are designed to be compact and simple to use, offering high zoom rates. The S4600 offers 26x optical zoom, the S4700 offers 28x optical zoom, and the S4800 offers 30x zoom. Each model features OIS sensor shift for clear images.

Likewise, all three cameras feature 16 megapixel CCD sensors, 6 image modes, 0.3 second auto-focus and startup time of just 1.3 seconds. Videos can be recorded in up to 720p at 30fps, then played back on a TV or monitor via a mini HDMI port. Power comes via 4 AA-batteries, with 320 shots per charge, assuming rechargeable batteries are used.

Jumping to the next batch, we have the S6600, S6700, and S6800. The models have, in order, 26x, 28x, and 30x optical zoom, in addition to a super high ISO of 12,800, OIS sensor shift for blur-free images, and a Super Macro mode that can take images as close as 2 centimeters away. All three feature 16-megapixel sensors and a 1-second startup.

As for video recording, all three cameras offer 1080i full HD recording at 60fps with stereo audio. There’s a dedicated video recording button, removing the need to toggle a dial or menu. In addition to the full HD mode, there’s also slow-motion video recording available at 480fps. Still images can be taken while recording video. Sound intriguing? You can check out the cameras’ bizarre promotional video above.

You can check out some pictures of the camera, as well as its specs, after the jump.

The WG-3 and WG-3 GPS models are both waterproof to depths of 46 feet (14 meters) and shockproof against drops from heights up to 6.5 feet (2 meters). Both can withstand temps down to 14F (-10C). The big difference between the models is indicated by their names – the WG-3 GPS model can add position and travel log data to images via GPS capabilities. Likewise, the GPS model features wireless recharging, a digital compass, and a gauge showing water depth, altitude, and pressure.

Both cameras feature video recording in up to full 1080p HD, as well as a 3-inch LCD display covered with anti-reflection coating to reduce glares and difficulty seeing. The 16-megapixel CMOS sensor is backlit, there are 12 digital image filters and 16 shooting modes, and support for Eye-Fi wifi SD cards. Because the camera is designed to be rugged, it only makes sense that Pentax included a carabiner strap for both models.

To keep images from coming out blurry, the WG-3/GPS models feature 9-point auto focus, as well as spot auto focus and auto tracking AF. There’s sensor-shift shake reduction, as well as high-sensitivity digital reduction. Both models will be released in April, with the WG-3 being priced at $299.95, and the WG-3 GPS being priced at $349.95.

The outside world is a dangerous place for cameras, fraught with drops and jostles and inconvenient wet environments, whether it be pouring rain or an underwater subject. As such, there’s no such thing as too many cameras aimed for the outdoorsy market, such as the recently unveiled Pentax WG-10. This model offers a water and shock-proof body complete with a unique, rugged design that hints at both the camera’s durability and intended market.

The WG-10 is a compact, lightweight camera offerings basic specs, making it an underwater-capable point-and-shoot that can be easily pocketed and pulled out for impromptu images. The camera can be taken to water depths of nearly 33 feet (10 meter), and can withstands drops from nearly 5 feet (1.5 meters). Likewise, it can handle temperatures down to 14 degrees Fahrenheit.

In addition, the WG-10 is crush-proof with up to 100 kilograms of force and dustproof, being tested at JIS Class 6. The battery offers 2 hours of continuous use, and a Digital Microscope mode that utilizes five LEDs arranged around the camera’s lens for uniform lighting. The lights are designed to illuminate brighter briefly during the shutter release in order to reduce blurs that result from slight vibrations and handshakes in macro photography.

As far as specs go, this camera from Pentax offers a 2.7-inch LCD display with a 16:9 aspect ratio and anti-reflection coating. There’s a 28mm wide-angle lens, as well as 5x optical zoom and 6.7x digital zoom. The CCD sensor clocks in at 14-megapixels, ISO ranges from 80 to 6400, and videos can be recorded in up to 720p HD. The camera is set to hit shelves in April for $179.95.

First up is the PowerShot ELPH 330 HS, which features 10x optical zoom and a 12.1-megapixel High-Sensitivity CMOS sensor. The device can be paired to both Android and iOS devices for wireless image transfer, and the camera itself can be used to comment on photographs that have been uploaded to social networking websites. Its connectivity features aside, the camera boasts Canon’s HS SYSTEM, which utilizes ISO up to 6400 for the most detailed low-light shots possible. The ELPH 330 HS will be available in March in Black, Pink, and Silver for $229.99.

The PowerShot ELPH 115 IS is more of a budget camera, lacking the wireless capabilities of the aforementioned model. The device boasts a DIGIC 4 processor, as well as a 16-megapixel sensor and 8x optical zoom. There are six stabilization modes to reduce blurs. Video footage can be recorded in high definition, and there’s an Eco Mode for power conservation. The 115 IS will be available in Pink, Black, Blue, and Silver for $169.99 in March.

Finally, there’s the PowerShot A2500, an A-series camera featuring a DIGIC 4 processor and a 16-megapixel sensor. The lens is a 28mm wide-angle that extends to 140mm with 5x optical zoom. Video can likewise be recorded in high definition, and images will come out as crisp as possible via Digital IS, which counters shake and subject blurs. Battery life can be extended via Eco Mode, and a handful of filters are in place, including Toy Camera and Fisheye. The unit will be available in March at $129.99.

Nikon has announced a slew of Coolpix compact cameras with a range of features, designs, and colors. Offerings include super-telephoto and zoom models, two rugged compacts aimed at the adventurous, and a couple models equipped with both wifi and GPS. The cameras are set to launch in February and will be available from various retailers.

Four models are being released in the S-series: the S9500, S9400, S31, and S5200. These four cameras have various features, with the S9500 offering integrated wifi and GPS, as well as 22x optical zoom. Dropping down a model, the S9400 is a basic camera with 18x zoom, a backlit CMOS sensor, and a 3-inch display. The S31 is aimed a bit more at the outdoorsy user, with the ability to withstand temps as low as 14F, water submersion to 5 meters, and a shockproof body that can handle drops from up to 1.2 meters. The S5200 boasts a slim body and slightly lower specs at 6x optical zoom. There’s likewise a backlit CMOS sensor, as well as a 26mm wide angle lens.

Two rugged compacts have been tossed into the mix: the AW110 and the AW110s. Both models are available in four different colors: silver, blue, orange, and black, as well as a fifth style – camouflage. Both have been designed for outdoor use in rough environments, offering integrated wifi, 16-megapixel sensors, and the ability to withstand temperatures as low as 14F. Both can be used underwater, include an altimeter, depth gauge, and atmospheric pressure display, and feature a 3-inch display. The AW110 model also features GPS for point of interest data.

There are three entry-level cameras in the L-series: the L820, L28, and L27. The L820 is a super-zoom unit offering 30x optical zoom and a 16-megapixel backlit sensor; it is available in black, red, blue, and plum. The L28 and L27, meanwhile, are both smaller pocketable compact models, with the former offering a 3-inch display and 20-megapixels and the latter offering a 2.7-inch display and 16-megapixels.

Finally, standing out amongst the other offerings is the Coolpix P520, a super-zoom digital camera offering 42x optical zoom. The unit offers a 24mm wide angle lens, lens-shift vibration reduction, a vari-angle 3.2-inch display, and an 18-megapixel CMOS sensor. There’s GPS, and support for recording in up to 1080p HD. Blurs are reduced via lens-shift vibration reduction. The device is can be used with the Wireless Mobile Adapter WU-1a, which is sold separately.

OLED technology has found its way into a number of products since it was invented. We’ve seen a few TVs that use OLED screens, but the incredibly high cost of TVs using the technology has kept them from the mainstream. The more common place to find OLED technology is in the mobile device market with digital cameras, smartphones, and other devices.

One of the largest makers of OLED displays in the world is Samsung Display. The company is bragging today that it has exceeded 300 million OLED panels produced. That number comes since the company began producing displays using the technology in January 2007.

Samsung offered some interesting facts to illustrate how many panels 300 million is. If you stacked all 300 million OLED panels the company has produced on top of one another, they would be more than 68 times the height of Mount Everest. The volume produce works out to over 470,000 panels a day.

Breaking the number down further, Samsung Display produced around 5.4 panels per second. Samsung Display says that they took 4 1/2 years to reach 100 million panels produced mark. With quick adoption of the technology, the next 100 million panels were produced in only seven months. Samsung Display has 98% of the OLED market in the displays are currently used in smartphones, tablets, and digital cameras.

Earlier this month during CES 2013, word surfaced that a company called JK Imaging had licensed the Kodak name for a line of digital cameras. The company has already plastered that Kodak brand name on its digital photography offerings and has unveiled the first digital camera in its new line of Kodak products reports eprice and Weibo. The camera is called the S1.

Curiously, you can plainly see in the background of the photo here the Kodak PIXPRO Digital Camera branding. It’s unclear if this will be the S1′s official name or if that was another camera unveiled during the JK Imaging press conference. We don’t have all the details on the S1 at this point, but we do know it is a mirrorless camera.

That means a new Kodak-branded micro four thirds camera will be coming to market. If you’re somehow unfamiliar with micro four thirds cameras, they offer interchangeable lenses and significantly reduced size compared to normal DSLR cameras. That significantly reduced size is thanks to the fact that micro four thirds offerings don’t have the mirror system required of a DSLR.

The few specifications that JK Imaging is promising for the camera include Wi-Fi connectivity and apparently the camera will have some sort of smartphone interactivity. I would assume it would have the ability to shoot images over to your smartphone to share on the go. The camera is supposed to release in Q3 of this year at an unannounced price.
