Are you familiar with the game Ultima? It's one of the most insanely popular video game series of all time. It has several games in several different genres of gameplay, including a game by the name of Ultima Online - one of the longest running and most successful MMORPGs in the time MMORPGs have been in existence. There've been no new Ultima Games since 1994, but it appears that one of the earlier versions: Ultima IV (1985) is still available and running relatively strong (considering its a 26 year old game) on two dedicated servers - and EA has just now asked them to cease and desist.
Oh it's nearly holiday time, or whatever you wanna say, and Blizzard Entertainment is definitely attaching itself to the Christmas with three heartily fancy cards that you can send to your friends, enemies, and Facebook. There's one for World of Warcraft, there's one for Starcraft II, and there's one for - YES - Diablo III. You'll find plenty of Santa inside, guns and death as well, and one gigantic barbarian that seems more intent on murdering you than giving you a positive present.
Oh dear me, looks like someone screwed up somehow or another. A five year plan for the future of Blizzard Entertainment has been leaked in China, Blizzard China's manager Ye Weilun is looking to be held responsible, he resigning quietly as Dai Jinhe (aka Alex Tai) takes over. This "Blizzard Product Slate" includes release dates for 18 products or events, including but not limited to: a World of Warcraft movie, a new possible MMO called Titan, Starcraft 2 Phoenix, and Diablo 3 (plus two expansions!) We are sad for Weilun, but extremely pumped up about Diablo 3 being released fourth quarter of 2011. Hopefully the dates stick!
People still use mousepads? Wait, what's that, people still use a mouse to click things on their computer screen? Man, it's been so long since I've used a desktop for anything day-to-day that it threw me for a loop seeing this SteelSeries QcK Diablo 3 Barbarian Edition mousepad. It's the latest in what I'd call a very limited promotion of Diablo 3, the game that's been on all Diablo 2 fanatics minds for what seems like decades. Perhaps this portends a release inside the next few years.
So it's that time again, that time when the longest amount of wait begins before BlizzCon comes again. That's right! It's time for the BlizzCon wrap-up video. This is Blizzard Entertainment's biggest event of the year, a place where they announce all their sweet spots and bring out the big guns as far as presenting what they've got coming up, then they have Tenacious D play some magical metal.
