Activision Q2 report: Diablo III captures 10 million players
Activision's financial results for its second quarter have landed, and things are looking pretty good for the massive publisher. Net revenue came in at $1.075 billion for the year, which is actually better than the $950 million the company was expecting. Earnings per share landed at a pretty healthy $0.16, which was again ahead of the company's $0.13 EPS projection for the quarter.

Advocacy group threatens legal action over Diablo III always-on DRM
Diablo III has attracted a healthy amount of controversy since launch, with most of that controversy focused around the game's always-online requirement. Blizzard's announcement of the always-on DRM was met with considerable outcry from fans, and it caused plenty of problems on launch day, as Blizzard's Diablo III servers repeatedly crumbled under the stress of so many logins. It was enough to send any gamer into a rage, and now a German consumer advocacy group called the Federation of Consumer Organizations is looking to do something about it.

Diablo III exploit makes Wizard characters invincible
A new exploit has been discovered in Diablo III that makes Wizard characters essentially invincible. The exploit reportedly works for both Softcore and Hardcore characters, which has some players up in arms and others scrambling to complete Hardcore more before Blizzard issues a fix. In the meantime, Blizzard has been removing forum posts that mention the exploit in a effort to keep the amount of people using it in-game to a minimum.

Diablo III player dies after 40 hour session
Sad news coming out of Taiwan today, as a teenager has died after playing Diablo III for 40 hours straight without any food. 18-year-old Chuang booked a private room at an internet cafe on Friday, July 13 and played Diablo III all the way through until Sunday, July 15, when he was discovered slumped over his desk by an internet cafe employee. Initially, Chuang appeared to be fine - only tired - but after getting up and walking a few steps, he collapsed and was rushed to the hospital, where he later passed away.

Diablo III is the Worst Game Ever Made
I have played Diablo III for dozens of hours. I have beaten the normal difficulty level with one of my “Heroes,” and I have made solid progress with a variety of characters representing each class. I came to the new sequel already a fan. I played through and beat Diablo II perhaps a dozen times, at nearly every difficulty level with every type of character. But now I’m done. I’m moving on. It finally hit me: Diablo III is the worst game I’ve ever played, for hours and hours and hours.
Diablo III “Starter Edition” rules implemented
In the game Diablo 3 week it appears that Blizzard Entertainment is implementing (or the public is just realizing the existence of) a "Starter Edition" rule which has users new to the game locked down in several areas for 72 hours after they first start up the game. This list of lockdowns includes no access to the auction house, limited leveling, and no Global Play. Users are able to access each of these, and more, once they've had their account for a total of three days (real time, not in-game time, thankfully).

Diablo III patch 1.0.3 keeps the town safe
Though it's been a given that once you're in Tristram or any number of other towns inside the game in the past, Diablo III has had to be patched to keep the beasts at bay. Today's patch includes an extra portal at each end of the bridge from New Tristram to The Weeping Hollow in order to keep citizens of the town safe as well as to make it a bit easier for people to exit into the field of battle. Too bat everyone can't have the staff helicoptering powers of the Monk or this wouldn't be a problem!

Diablo III Real Money Auction House officially launched
Today is the first day that users will be able to toss real hard-earned cash at virtual items in the game Diablo III online. This game has for some years now been teased to have a real-money auction house (in addition to its more basic virtual gold auction house), and upon the game’s launch earlier this year, it’s been the most widely anticipated feature not to be included with the initial build. Today when you head online to Diablo III you’ll more than likely see an update to your software and a couple of new user agreements before you’re allowed to play.
Diablo III takes cheaters to the cleaners
This week Blizzard will be bringing "thousands" of Diablo III hackers, botters, and cheaters to the banning chambers as they ramp up their efforts to keep the game a completely clean, safe, and enjoyable environment for all players. This wave of cuts is sure to create some controversy as there is currently no offline play mode for the game, even if a player wants to play by his or herself - because of this, no hacks will be tolerated anywhere in the game at any time.

Diablo III down-time portends Real-Money Auction House launch
You may well be experiencing some heavy down-time on Diablo III today or over the past couple of days due to Blizzard's newest security update that will in the end reveal the first release of the real-money auction house for the game. The update comes aside a key changed to the site's Terms of Use which includes a brand new requirement for a Battle.NET authenticator attached to one's account before they can use the auction house. This update will lead you into a world where you can both pay and earn real cash sums in exchange for digital goods, a service which did exist via eBay in the Diablo II iteration of the game, but never officially tied to Blizzard Entertainment itself.

Along with many new improvements we were expecting, we also have powerful new NVIDIA GT650M graphics for tons of gaming prowess.
