Unieco pump bottle concept has built-in funnel

If you are like me if can be the little things that really drive you crazy. The sink in my kitchen has one of those built-in soap pump dispensers. The opening is so small you have to fill it with a funnel. I can never find a funnel; I think the wife gets off on hiding them from me. Read The Full Story

Morphware Plate concept uses magic

This is one of the more out there concepts that I have seen over on Yanko Design. This thing is magic or a sufficiently advanced version of one of those 3D prototype printers as to fit Arthur C. Clark's definition of magic. Read The Full Story

Pebble concept replaces your normal keyless entry fob

I'm not sure why, but no matter how long I drive a car with keyless entry it seems like I always hit the wrong button on the remote. I end up locking the doors rather than unlocking and I had a car once where I popped the trunk all the time. Read The Full Story

QuickSnap ice cube trays make getting ice out easy

My dad was always telling me how bad things were in his day when I was a kid. He had to walk to school in the show, uphill both ways, with bailing wire for shoestrings and so on. I've actually got it pretty easy and the worst thing I can think of to tell my son about how bad I had it when I was a kid was that we had to use ice trays. No stinkin' door dispenser, things were rough. Read The Full Story

Smart Kid baby furniture is useful once the kid can climb

I have two kids and both are years outside the baby bed today. I can remember putting the beds for them both together only to toss them out in a few years when they learned to scale the side of the bed. Andensen Furniture has a new design concept that is perfect for the new parents looking to get some mileage out of their furniture. Read The Full Story

Dream & Fly tiny hotel room is cool

A couple weekends ago, I was at a wedding that was held at a bed and breakfast out in the country. The nuptials were beautiful, but the guest rooms at the place left a lot to be desired and were much too rustic and small for most of the ladies (and the guys) at the wedding to endure. Dream & Fly has unveiled a new tiny hotel room concept aimed at use in airports that made the tiny rooms at the wedding look huge. Read The Full Story

Sound Scape Music System concept provides images to go with music

Design concepts are cool simply because they offer us a glimpse at the imagination of some folks and what products of the future might look like. We all know 99.9% of all the concept products we see will never the light inside the local Best Buy, but they are still cool to look at. Last week I showed you a design concept for a Microsoft branded mouse called the eVouse over at Yanko Design. Read The Full Story

Microsoft eVouse mouse/pen design concept is too cool for MS

Microsoft has some interesting peripherals in its lineup. The company was the first to offer a gaming keyboard with a number pad that could be moved to either side of the keyboard. That was a cool innovation, but for the most part the designs that Microsoft comes up with are usually a bit boring to me. Read The Full Story

Lenovo Skylight design process arguably more interesting than smartbook itself

, Jan 14th 2010 Discuss [0]

With the onslaught of gadgets, concept designs and prototypes at CES 2010, it's easy to forget that behind each is a design team slaving away to get things ready in time for the show.  Over at Lenovo's Design Matters blog they're unsurprisingly pretty keen on the Lenovo Skylight; however even if you're not a fan of the smartbook itself you'll probably be interested by the tale of how Richard Sapper - designer of the original ThinkPad - came up with the prototype (including a beautiful olive wood mockup) in just a few weeks time. Fleximus camera concept by Art Lebedev

, Dec 23rd 2009 Discuss [0]

Art Lebedev has brought out for us another novel concept, aside from the rather remarkable vision of the Transparentius.  What looks at first glance to be one of those snake reading lights is actually a bendable digital camera in the shape of a flexible body with an integrated lens that can be hooked to either a viewfinder on the end of the camera, or an attachable 3-inch LCD display unit. Transparentius road view system by Art Lebedev – a lifesaver concept?

, Dec 23rd 2009 Discuss [3]

Renowned for innovative and out-of-this-world design behind products in the vein of the Optimus Maximus OLED-based keyboard, design house Art Lebedev Studio has come up with a new road safety concept dubbed the Transparentius.  How does it work?  It’s implemented by essentially delivering and projecting images from a video signal taken from the camera system in the front of a truck to the back door panels. Moshimy mobile phone dock concept spied

Mobile phone docks today are a dime a dozen. Most of them look a lot alike and share many of the same features. A new design concept from designer Michael Young called the Moshimy has been spied that looks different than the unwashed masses and can charge the device while placing and receiving calls or listening to music.
