Today's the second major day of news from IFA 2012, and while Samsung and Sony both got their time in the spotlight yesterday (Samsung in particular had a lot to talk about, but Sony had some big announcements as well), today it's Dell's turn. It seems that everyone is jumping on the Windows 8 and Windows RT train lately, and Dell is no exception. Today it revealed a handful of new devices that will be making friends with Windows 8 and Windows RT.

Snapdragon S4 greatness touted for Windows RT tablets from Samsung and Dell
It would appear that Qualcomm's Snapdragon S4 processor line is making the rounds this year at IFA 2012, today appearing in both Samsung and Dell's Windows RT tablets. The first of these is the Samsung ATIV Tab 10-inch tablet (check out our hands-on experience) with 1366 x 768 pixel resolution and an 8.9mm thin body. Then there's the Dell XPS 10 which we got eyes-on time with this week as well - complete with 10-inch multi-touch display and keyboard dock for converting the device into a notebook.

Dell XPS One 27 Hands-on
The Dell XPS One 27 isn’t a new all-in-one PC, but with Windows 8 and full multitouch it really comes into its own. Fronted by a huge 27-inch Quad HD LCD – that’s 2560 x 1440 – and mounted on an adjustable stand, it’s an interesting alternative approach to all-in-ones to what we’ve seen from the other big name in the marketplace, Apple’s iMac.
Dell XPS Duo 12 eyes-on
Dell's XPS Duo 12 has some lineage, but it's not really the sort of ancestry you'd want to talk about too loudly. The original Inspiron Duo was a case of good in theory, poor in practice: a notebook with a rotating touchscreen that could turn it into a slate, let down by an underperforming CPU, clunky build and Windows 7's lack of finger-friendliness. Now, with the XPS Duo 12, Dell has brought some of its ultrabook knowledge to the concept, and from what we've seen today it's with good result.

Dell XPS 10 tablet eyes-on
Dell is playing things coy with the XPS 10 tablet, keeping things behind glass for the most part, but we managed to coax the 10-inch slate out for some hands-off photography. Actually playing with the Windows RT tablet isn't an option here at its IFA launch, unfortunately, but we've at least seen how slick Dell's industrial design is for the metal slate.

Dell XPS 10 Windows RT tablet revealed with 20hr battery
Dell has joined the Windows RT tablet crowd, with the new Dell XPS 10 making its official debut at IFA today. A 10-inch slimline slate that - as we saw from Samsung yesterday - comes with a removable keyboard dock, the biggest selling point for the XPS 10 is likely to be its impressive battery claims: Dell says it'll run for 20hrs on a single charge.

Dell XPS Duo 12 ultrabook packs swiveling touchscreen
Dell has resurrected the Inspiron Duo in the shape of the XPS Duo 12 ultrabook, a 12-inch touchscreen notebook with a swiveling display for both traditional laptop and convenient tablet use. Revealed at IFA today, the Duo 12 has a full HD touchscreen and bypasses the chunky plastics of the Inspiron Duo in favor of slick and compact metals.

Dell XPS One 27 gets Windows 8 and multitouch
Dell has launched its latest XPS all-in-one desktop, refreshing the XPS One 27 and including a touchscreen for navigating Windows 8. Targeted both at domestic and business users, the One 27 runs at Quad HD 2560 x 1440 resolution with 3.7m pixels, and - with Dell disagreeing strongly with Apple's hands-on approach for AIOs - allows you to page through Windows without using a keyboard or mouse.

Welcome to Tuesday evening, everyone. Let's jump right into the news, shall we? Today Apple delivered its closing arguments in the suit against Samsung, and it didn't pull any punches. Additionally, we found out that jurors deciding the case have been given various devices to help them decide who's in the right, but can't do much of anything with them. Apple's stock took a bit of a dip after it was crowned the most valuable public company ever, and some good news coming out of Foxconn, as its progress report with Fair Labor Association came back positive.

Dell profits tumble by 18% in Q2, stock price dips
Dell announced today that its profits in the second quarter of its fiscal year fell 18% from the year before, landing at $732 million and prompting an after hours stock price dip. At the time of this writing, Dell's stock is down by 4.28% to $11.81 after hours, with the stock finishing the regular trading day at $12.34, only a 1.75% decrease. The Wall Street Journal reports that Dell's sinking profits come from the computer manufacturer's struggles with a consumer base that is increasingly opting for mobile devices while they decide to wait on PC purchases.

Dell U2713HM AH-IPS monitor breaks cover
Dell has been due for a refresh of its flagship 27-inch UltraSharp monitor, and it looks like an updated model has finally made an appearance on the company’s Japanese website. The U2713HM features the same 2560x1440 resolution as the U2711, but Dell has opted to use the newer AH-IPS (Advanced High Performance IPS) technology. The benefits of AH-IPS include improved color accuracy as well as more efficient light transmission, ultimately leading to a more power efficient display.

Apple tops Q2 computing and MS Surface will sink say analysts
Apple took top spot in worldwide PC shipments in Q2 2012, according to one research firm, making up almost 20-percent alone when tablets are lumped in with desktops and notebooks. Year-on-year growth for the Mac and iPad maker reached almost 60-percent to more than 21m units for the three month period, Canalys calculates, comfortably exceeding HP, Lenovo, Acer and Dell.
