Details are scant, but according to Forbes Dell are considering packing their upcoming Latitude Z premium notebook with wireless charging. The notebook – which has a 16-inch display and is being targeted at high-end corporate buyers – is Dell’s attempt to reposition themselves as a design-focused company, and will have a “sleek gray” casing and Intel CPU.

I am almost afraid to find out what the thin and feature packed set will cost.
It’s a frankly astonishing time to start a teaser campaign – right smack in the middle of an Apple event – but Dell were obviously so upset by Apple’s snook-cocking at their netbook range that they wanted to show off their upcoming super-skinny Adamo XPS. The 9.99mm thick notebook has no specs, no details and no price, but then again it wouldn’t be much of a teaser if everything was on a plate for you, would it.
Dell has announced a couple new laptop models today that are getting new Intel Core Solo 2 ULV CPUs to increase battery life and performance. We have seen one of the notebooks before when Dell first unveiled the 14z back in May 2009.
Dell have outed their latest XPS performance desktops, the 8000-series and 9000-series, based on Intel’s Core i5 and Core i7 processors, together with pushing their latest CULV notebooks, the Inspiron 14z and 15z, out of the door. The 8000 and 9000 desktops have optional Blu-ray drives, standard DVD burners, and start from $799.

Occasionally arch rumor site Digitimes takes a break from speculation and leaks and does some research into PC hardware sales performance. Latest niche to come under their microscope is the "ultra-thin" notebook, generally based on Intel's CULV (consumer ultra-low voltage) platform, and offering a middle-point between the battery longevity of netbooks and the performance of full-sized notebooks. Unfortunately for manufacturers, Digitimes claims the ultra-thins will only account for 4-percent of total global notebook shipments in 2009.
Here we go again with another week in review for your perusal. A mystery Android-powered MID tipped up this week looking very much like those renderings of the Apple tablet to my eyes. It’s cool to see android showing up on so many devices. Logitech unveiled an update to the coolest racing wheel ever, the G25, called simply enough the G27. The new wheel promises more accurate force feedback effects and keeps with the slick clutch and gated shifter we loved from the G25.
Dell may have canned their Inspiron Mini 12, but they’ve replaced it with a new CULV ultraportable in the shape of the Inspiron 11z. The new notebook has an 11.6-inch display running at 1,366 x 768, paired with Intel’s Celeron 723 1.2GHz processor, 2GB of RAM and a 250GB hard-drive. Thanks to stepping up to CULV rather than Intel’s Atom range, the 11z gets past the CPU/storage limitations the chip company insists upon; that should mean buyers get a more capable ultraportable for their money.
Looks like Dell aren’t quite ready to confess to launching the Mini 3i yet; the company has described the touchscreen smartphone as “a proof of concept“, and dismissed any idea that they are confirming specifications or even names of upcoming devices. In fact, according to company spokesperson Matt Parretta, “The only thing that we’re confirming is that we’re in product with China Mobile … We were there as a development partner for the [Google Android-based] oPhone platform.”
Dell China have brought their smartphone out to play, the first official showing of the much-leaked handset. According to the launch reports, the Dell Mini 3i is based on the Chinese-designed Open Mobile System (OMS), an Android-based platform, and has less than impressive hardware: the Mini 3i is 2G GSM only, with no WiFi, and only a 3.2-megapixel camera (with LED flashlight) and Bluetooth to brighten things up.
