FCC CEO spectrum keynote comes from an iPad

This week FCC CEO Julius Genachowski spoke on the expansion of spectrum across the board to carriers and how "we need to see improvements in efficiency in networks and devices" across the board. This speech had many of the same talking points coming up that the FCC had spoken on several times before, with items like "We'll of course continue to monitor competition in the wireless industry and take action where necessary" being talking points. What's perhaps more interesting to Apple fans than any of this, strangely enough, is the fact that this entire speech was done from an iPad.

FCC CEO touts “the fastest growing technology in history”

This week at CTIA, FCC CEO Julius Genachowski noted that they will be re-dedicating themselves to a fair and safe expansion of the wireless industry. Genachoski has spoken today on leadership, how the FCC enjoys attending CTIA, and how it's only a matter of time before the whole world sees the power of the wireless industry. He noted then that he'd recently seen a note which blew his mind, that "more people across the world have mobile phones than running water or electricity."

CTIA 2012 Chairman promises spectrum expansion for all

This year at CTIA, the FCC is heading up the CTIA event with commitments to sustainability through both the FCC CEO and the newest CTIA chairman Patrick Riordan of CellCom. Speaking at the first keynote of the event, Riordan noted that The Wireless Association would be bringing forth a renewed dedication to protecting against cyber attacks and would be attempting to inspire innovation and enhance productivity in all things wireless. To do this, they're seeking first ad foremost a major addition of wireless spectrum across the nation.

This morning we're sitting in on the first big CTIA keynote speech as headed by FCC CEO Julius Genachowski, here to play how to talk about how, as he says, "Wireless is THE Game Changer." Kyocera Hydro promises cheap water protection

Kyocera might not be the most recognizable brand, but it is intent on bringing some cheap Android handsets to the market. Today they’ve announced the Kyocera Hydro, a waterproof Android phone running Ice Cream Sandwich and some basic specs. The Hydro is a CDMA phone, and can be submerged in shallow water (one meter deep) for up to half an hour. You’ll also be protected against rainfall and other moisture.

Kyocera Rise offers QWERTY Android on a budget

Kyocera has outed its latest Android smartphone, the Kyocera Rise, a four-row QWERTY slider targeting the budget market with Ice Cream Sandwich on a 1GHz processor. The Rise has a 3.5-inch 480 x 320 IPS LCD touchscreen and 512MB of RAM, and uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon MSM8655 with 2GB of ROM space. There's also a 3.2-megapixel camera with LED flash and 30fps video recording.

Today we had a chance to speak with a fellow named Dylan who was representing the Ford Motor Company and their soon to be released 2012 Ford Focus Electric car. Our first encounter included no less than an in-depth look at how the mobile application MyFord Mobile, made specifically for this vehicle, worked with and assisted the vehicle in real time. DROID Incredible 4G LTE Hands-on

This week we've gotten the opportunity to take a peek at the next HTC Android-based smartphone to hit Verizon - the DROID Incredible 4G LTE. This device represents what's essentially a side-family to the HTC One series, complete with Beats Audio, an 8 megapixel camera on the back, and a 1.2 GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor inside. This device is not part of the HTC One series, but holding it in your hands you might never know it - consider it a hybrid of the DROID Incredible series and the power and finesse that HTC has been pushing with HTC One - a series that's certainly turned some heads on all fronts.

The folks at AT&T have taken on home automation with a fury this week, showing off their new AT&T Digital Life system with a pack of iPads in a New Orleans home that's become fully controlled by the user. The user of course is you, the homeowner, and the way you're going to do it is with a fully customizable application (and environment) that AT&T will be making available in the near future.
