HP ENVY 17 3D hands-on

HPs ENVY range of laptops have always been eye-catching, but their latest ENVY 17 3D takes that up a step by packing 3D support too.  We caught up with the 17.3-inch Full HD notebook this week, and it’s certainly a beast of a machine: plenty of metal in the chassis, a quadcore Intel Core i7-720QM processor, 2TB of storage and a slot-loading Blu-ray drive.

Acer Aspire AS5745DG 3D Vision notebook joins refreshed AS5742G, AS5745 & AS7745

Acer has updated its AS5742G, AS5745 and Aspire AS7745 notebooks, throwing in a selection of new Intel Core i3, i5 and i7 processors, together with a choice of integrated NVIDIA Optimus or ATI Mobility Radeon HD 5650 graphics.  The 15.6-inch 1366 x 768 AS5742G and AS 5745 machines have a choice of HDDs up to 500GB, while the 17.3-inch 1600 x 900 AS7745 gets up to 1TB.  There's also the Acer AS5745DG with NVIDIA 3D Vision courtesy of the NVIDIA GeForce GT 420M GPU. Acer Aspire AS8943G get ATI Radeon 5850 2GB update

Getac V200 rugged Core i7 tablet PC outed

Rugged computer specialist Getac has outed its successor a sibling to the V100 convertible tablet PC, and as you might expect it's no less sturdy.  The Getac V200 has a 12.1-inch super-bright 1,200 nit multitouch-capable display, 2.0GHz Intel Core i7-620LM processor and WiFi b/g/n, but more importantly perhaps it's MIL-STD-810G and IP65 compliant for resilience to dust, vibration, temperatures as low as -20 degrees centigrade and water. Fujitsu LIFEBOOK AH530 GFX notebook packs external HD550v 1GB graphics

Fujitsu's latest external-graphics notebook has been revealed, the LIFEBOOK AH530 GFX, offloading its ATI Mobility Radeon HD550v 1GB video card to make for a more portable main unit.  Based on May's original AH530, complete with optional Core i3, i5 or i7 processors, Blu ray or DVD drives, up to 8GB of RAM and up to 500GB HDD, the AH530 GFX gives desktop users an alternative to the standard notebook's Intel HD GPU. ASUS Rampage III Formula high-end motherboard breaks cover

ASUS has sent over a handful of shots of their upcoming ASUS Rampage III Formula motherboard, and it's all looking decidedly tasty.  Based around Intel's X58 chipset, meaning compatibility with the latest breed of hexacore Core i7 processors, there are a full six DDR3 DIMM slots and three PCIe x16 slots. Dell pack hexacore i7-980X into Studio XPS 9100 PC

Dell has updated its Studio XPS 9100 desktop series to include Intel's latest Core i7 processors, bringing a welcome burst of speed with up to hexacore chips on offer.  Priced from $949.99 with the 2.66GHz Core i7-920 paired with 3GB of DDR3 memory and NVIDIA GeForce G310 512MB graphics, Dell are asking a further $470 for the Core i7-960 or a cool $1,000 more for the six-core i7-980X.
