It's obviously a week for laptop processor upgrades, and while Toshiba's Tecra M11 notebooks aren't quite as eye-catching - or as fast - as Apple's new MacBook Pro machines, they're a whole lot cheaper.  The 14-inch Tecra M11 packs Intel's latest Core i3 and Core i5 CPUs, together with up to 3GB of DDR3 memory and standard Intel HD graphics; if you're willing to splash out on the top-spec model, you get NVIDIA NVS 2100M graphics instead.

Intel freeze CULV refresh over Calpella success?

Intel freeze CULV refresh over Calpella success?

Another rumored blow to Intel's CULV range of ultra-low-voltage processors for ultra-thins, as DigiTimes' sources at notebook manufacturers claim the silicon company have delayed the launch of a new CULV line-up.  The decision - which would push the new ultra-thin CPUs back into Q3 2010 - is blamed in part on Acer's decision to eschew the CULV chips in favor of low-voltage Calpalla-series processors for their newest TimelineX notebooks.

Intel Core i3, i5 & i7 notebook CPUs in short supply?

Acer's enthusiastic embrace of Intel's latest Core i3, i5 and i7 "Calpella" notebook processors for their upcoming TimelineX range has seemingly thrown the chipmaker's production lines into a panic, with DigiTime's manufacturing sources reckoning that the CPUs are now in relatively short supply.  That's led Intel to prioritize the orders of first-tier manufacturers, meaning it may take a little longer for niche market notebooks to arrive.

Acer TimelineX 3820T, 4820T and 5820T get quietly official [Update: they’ve been pulled]

Someone at Acer US should check their calendar, because while the company's TimelineX notebooks aren't expected to make their official debut until March 22nd, they've already shown up on the company's site.  As expected, along with the 11.6-inch TimelineX 1830T from yesterday, there's also a 13.3-inch TimelineX 3820T, 14-inch TimelineX 4820T and a 15.6-inch TimelineX 5820T.

Update: Looks like whoever is responsible for the site has spotted the error - the new machines have been taken down.
