Nikon’s Coolpix S1000pj projector-camera may only have got the official nod from the company this morning, but that hasn’t stopped Stuff.TV from going hands-on with the 12.1-megapixel shooter already. They found the S1000pj to be surprisingly good fun, with the VGA quality from the pico-projector making up in communal usability what it lacks in visual fidelity.

Having only been talking about Nikon’s pico-projector-packing digital camera earlier on today, images of the digicam – plus three other upcoming point-and-shoots – have leaked. The Nikon Coolpix S1000pj is the production version of the VP650 prototype, and packs a compact projector module in the center of its casing.
Nikon didn’t showcase any all-weather tough camera at PMA 2009 this year, in fact, there isn’t one but a splashproof, basic sealing Coolpix S2 in the past. This tough Coolpix you about to see is a concept, a designer piece from Yakon Design by artist Camillo Vanacore.
The last batch of Coolpix to join Nikon’s 2009 digicams’ releases are company’s stylish and slim-line S-series lineup. They are much advance and packed with high-end features you don’t get it from the budget L-series. All the cameras, namely the S630, S620, S220 and S230 include the basic Nikon’s Smart Portrait System, Nikkor Optics, 4-Way VR Image Stabilization, motion captures up to VGA size, and Scene Auto Selector; and each has it own unique feature targeting different audiences. Additionally, unlike the L-series and P90, the S series are finished in a variety of colors.
Announced today is the newest Nikon’s Coolpix budget lineup featuring 3 affordable L-series digital camera with varies image sizes from 8 to 10mp and optical zoom from 3.6x to 10x.
Nikon is expanding its Coolpix lineup to include a superzoom digital camera, P90, a 12.1 MP flagship covering wide range of shooting distances from 26-624mm (35mm equiv.). This new model will compete directly with the latest 12mp ultra zoom series from rivalries Kodak Z980 with 24x and Olympus SP 590UZ with 26x.
