The most absurd Apple concept ever

The most absurd Apple concept ever

The following images were made by Martin Hajek, an illustrator you likely know well by now if you follow SlashGear closely. If you follow SlashGear's Apple leaks and tips, that is to say. Hajek is the sort of person who has access to blueprints for iPhones well before they're released, taking the data he's got on hand and making what end up being spot-on renderings of Apple devices before they're revealed. Today he's made a row of keys that fit on your MacBook. Why in the world would I need these keys, you might ask.

OLED MacBook looks like something Razer would make

OLED MacBook looks like something Razer would make

The flatness is here - a set of images of what could some day end up being a glorious new generation in MacBook aesthetics. This is a concept by Martin Hajek, who you might most recently remember for his renderings of the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 "Pro". Here you'll see keys that are a lot closer to the surface of the keyboard. Here you'll see a display bar above the rim. Here you'll see a new way to interact with a machine that - to be entirely honest - didn't need much to change in the first place.

Goodyear unveils spherical concept tires for autonomous cars

Goodyear unveils spherical concept tires for autonomous cars

Goodyear has taken the wraps off two new concept tires designed specifically for autonomous vehicles. The most interesting of the two is the Eagle-360, a spherical concept tire that can move in any direction using, in part, a magnetic levitation system. As exciting as the Eagle-360 is, it isn’t reasonable for the upcoming fleet of self-driving cars. To meet present-day needs, Goodyear has also introduced its new IntelliGrip concept tires.

Spyro the Dragon returns in Unreal Engine 4

Spyro the Dragon returns in Unreal Engine 4

Just a few days ago we caught a glimpse of a Spyro the Dragon project by a designer who chose Unreal Engine 4 to revitalize the game's first level. Today we get to see that same situation done by an entirely different designer/developer: Sheffield Hallam University student Jamie Shilvock. Today we get to see a video of that project, live and ready to roll in a video which shows the entire environment, full of movement - save the dragon himself. What Shilvock has done is give us hope that this classic game - and the even more classic character - won't be just be lost to time, space, and Skylanders.

The X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter game reboot you wish we had

The X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter game reboot you wish we had

Today we're having a peek at a game that we'd love to see come to fruition: X-Wing vs TIE-Fighter (modern). This new game would be one that builds on the excellence that were the first X-Wing and TIE-fighter games, coming correct with not only new graphics, but fully updated gaming models, including multi-screen interaction and the possibility of virtual reality gameplay. Now that you can get the original games after 20 years (now released through GOG, completely DRM-free and offline if you wish), we've got a hankering to get back in the cockpit.

This clock needs your finger to touch it

This clock needs your finger to touch it

There's a circular clock out there in the wild today that uses an array of lights and your finger to display the time. It goes by the name Shadowplay, and we wouldn't at all be surprised if some big-name manufacturer ripped the design off from the fine folks at BreadedEscalope before the end of next year. Expect this piece of art to be popping up in a store near you before you can say "where can I buy that." For now, it is just as you see it - a single, wall-mounted piece of artwork not meant for mass production.

Star Wars’ BB-8 droid if it were designed by Apple

Star Wars’ BB-8 droid if it were designed by Apple

Hey Apple fans, wouldn't it be awesome if just about everything was designed Jony Ive and his team at the Cupertino company? Stuff like vacuum cleaners, kitchen appliances, and even toilet seats would sleek, aluminum-covered products of precision and beauty. Okay, maybe that wouldn't be so great. But there are definitely some things we can agree would be pretty cool looking if they came Apple. Take BB-8, that cute new spherical droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens, for example.

Lincoln Continental Concept quietly sneaks in luxury

While others make a great noise about their latest, greatest, and most luxurious, Lincoln is of the opposite mindset. That is the statement and the gamble that the car maker is willing to make with the return of the Lincoln Continental, not as a final version but as a concept preview of what is to come. Somewhat ironically, due to the name's history, the revelation is causing some noise in the automobile world.
