hpmini1000Well, it looks like HP is working hard to sell their products despite the recession. Their HP Mini 1000 netbook got a price drop today, bringing the cost down from $400 to $360. This makes it more competitive to similar netbooks that cost less and makes it a more realistic buying option for many on a budget.

But the price drop isn’t the only news. In fact, now you can up the RAM to 1GB for free. What this means is that the typical upgrade option has been removed and made standard. This has also made it so the shipping price decreased.

That’s pretty much all that’s new about the HP Mini 1000, but it’s still pretty cool anyway. Other options include a 16GB SSD or a 60GB HDD. You can also choose between an 8.9-inch display and a 10.2-inch one. 3G and Bluetooth were also added as options. The new price drop on the Mini 1000 will be available for shipment starting on December 17th.

coby netbook rumorWe reported to you yesterday that Coby Electronics Corporation was developing netbooks that would be available for less than $100 by March 2009, but it seems this was a mere fabrication. In fact, the original article, which appeared at Arkansas.IndyMedia.org, has now been debunked by Coby themselves.

cmzcoolerblack 401x480Even though it was announced last month, the Cosmos Black case bundle from Cooler Master just got an addition that is definitely worth mentioning. In fact, it got a HyperZ600 CPU cooler added to the package, which suddenly makes it much more worthwhile.

This new case is, of course, all black and the HyperZ600 CPU cooler is meant to keep the latest high performance processors running cool without drowning you in noise. The cooler itself features a 120mm fan capable of 800 to 2200 rpm. It also has a spacer that goes between the fan and the top of the cooling fins to better channel the air. This also has the benefit of reducing noise greatly.

We don’t know what CPUs this cooler would be compatible with, but it does seem to be rather universal. If the HyperZ600 cooler sounds interesting to you, then you should take note that it is only available as a part of the Cosmos Black bundle.
