The Federal Aviation Administration has claimed in this day of increasing technology that flying drones for commercial purposes in American skies is against the law, and as such ended up initiating its first legal action against an individual flying a drone for commercial purposes. Today a judge dismissed the case, saying such activities are legal.
Apple has released a behind-the-scenes look at the making of its "1.24.14" video to celebrate 30 years of the Mac, showing how director Jake Scott - son of Ridley Scott, who directed the original 1984 Mac commercial - harnessed 100 iPhones to film the short. Filming of the video took place over the course of a day, with Scott supervising and remotely directing each of the fifteen crews spread across the world through FaceTime.

The new track, Invisible, is available through iTunes as a free download until 11:59pm EST on Monday, February 3rd; during that period, every download will see Bank of America donate a dollar to (RED)'s AIDs research.

HTC seems to be in bad shape, but they're trying to dig themselves out of a rut by recruiting Iron Man lead star Robert Downey Jr. to market the company's latest products, according to reports. After slashing executive salaries by half just recently, it's said that HTC is signing a $12 million deal with Downey Jr. to have him promote the company's various devices.
Adding on to its previous new ad taking a knock at Siri and the iPad, Microsoft is back with another ad that outlines the iPad's lack of multitasking, and the setbacks with printing and other hardware downsides. In this case, Microsoft uses an ASUS VivoTab RT and puts it up against the latest fourth-generation iPad.
Apple's Siri is known for its occasional blasts of snark, but Microsoft has co-opted the virtual assistant for its latest Windows tablet commercial. Billed "Less talking, more doing" the advert - which you can see after the cut - pits Apple's iPad against an ASUS VivoTab Smart running Windows 8, and which unsurprisingly enough is found lacking in Microsoft's opinion.
Dyson has announced its Airblade Tap, a combination water tap and hand dryer that is completely hands-off and eliminates the need to walk from the sink to the hand dryer, dripping all over the floor on the way there. Utilizing infrared sensors, water turns on automatically when one goes to wash their hands, then the air dryer "blades" activate when the hands are moved slightly outwards.
