The Xbox 360 and PS3 may face cable boxes edging in on their gaming turf if AT&T, Verizon, Time Warner and others have their way, with the promise of cloud gaming delivered direct to TVs bypassing traditional consoles. Synology launches 4-bay DiskStation DS413j NAS

Synology has introduced the world to its latest network-attached storage solution, launching the 4-bay DiskStation DS413j. Using the DiskStation DS413j, small companies and individual users can create their own private cloud storage servers, and the 4-bay design means that they can store up 16TB of data on the device. Evernote takes Moleskine into the notebook cloud

Digital notebook app Evernote has taken a break from weaning us off paper and into the cloud, with a new Moleskine deal seeing the cult pads made app-enabled. The Evernote Smart Notebook by Moleskine works with the freshly updated Evernote apps for iPhone and iPad, offering the ability to digitize handwritten notes and sketches simply by taking a photo, and assign them to folders and with tags by slapping on a sticky label. Steam expanding to offer non-game software later this year

Well, this is quite interesting: soon you'll be able to use Steam for more than just playing games. Valve announced today that it will begin offering non-game software titles through Steam starting in September, so before long you'll be able to access your other software from within Steam as well. Honda 2013 Accord revealed with HondaLink cloud infotainment hub

Honda has revealed its 2013 Accord, in both sedan and coupe variants, with the new model trimming heft externally but simultaneously improving interior space. As swoopy and sculpted as its ever been, the new Accord is set to go on sale this fall and loses most of its bulk in length: Honda claims both versions are "noticeably shortened" which makes for a sportier driving experience and easier parking. When iCloud becomes the Perfect Storm

A high-profile case of cloud hijacking and data vandalism has thrown new attention on iCloud, Amazon, Google and other big online names, as gaps in the ways security is handled potentially allow for hacking. Flaws in how Apple and Amazon handle account recovery have been blamed for the “digital destruction” of journalist Mat Honan’s online life, following hackers’ successful attempts to crack security on his iCloud account, gain access to his Gmail and Twitter, and then remotely lock and delete his MacBook, iPhone and iPad.

Microsoft saw one million signups to Hotmail replacement Outlook.com in just over six hours of availability, the company has revealed. The surprising stat was tweeted out yesterday, after Microsoft moved to better challenge webmail titan Gmail with a redesign of its free service and better integration with social networking, cloud storage and, eventually, video calling services. Microsoft has launched Outlook.com, a new cloud-based email service to take on Gmail with integrated Skype video calling and social networking integration. Considerably more attractive – not to mention comprehensive – than Hotmail, which it replaces, Outlook.com supports easy access to attachment photo slideshows, integration with Office and SkyDrive, and support for Facebook Chat.

Microsoft Azure fails in Western Europe

Microsoft's Azure cloud service went down for a while today in Western Europe, leaving those who use its virtual servers without access to them. ZDNet reports that the failure began around lunchtime UK time, and stayed down for a decent part of the early afternoon. Luckily, the outage didn't last too terribly long, as Microsoft now has the service back up and running after working to fix the issue for about two-and-a-half hours. Read The Full Story

Fox films now available through iTunes in the Cloud

Following the big international roll out of iTunes movies in the Cloud, it looks like Apple and Twentieth Century Fox have finally made films available for U.S. users via iTunes in the Cloud after months of waiting around for it. iTunes movies in the Cloud was initially launched back in March, but Fox and Universal had agreements in place with HBO that restricted films from being included. iTunes movies are sold in multiple countries across the world, but the iTunes in the Cloud feature for movies was previously restricted to the United States. Apple has now rolled out the feature to 37 new countries, including the UK, Canada, New Zealand, and Australia. Not everything that users have purchased will be available due to licensing agreements, but it’s good to see the feature expanding to additional territories. Read The Full Story
