Cisco Valet easy-setup routers & Linksys E-Series routers debut

Cisco have gone networking crazy today (though, given networking is their core business we're glad they're taking it seriously) with the launch of both a new consumer range of routers, the Cisco Valet series, and a "tech enthusiast" range, the Linksys E-Series.  The Valet range - which consists of the Valet and Valet Plus - prioritises ease of setup, using a USB stick onto which all of the network settings are installed, meaning you can get a new machine online simply by plugging it in once.

FlipShare TV gets official: reasonably straightforward streaming

Having been prematurely outed by the FCC a little over a month ago, Cisco and Flip Video have officially launched the FlipShare TV, their new media streamer system.  Consisting of a USB transmitter for your PC/Mac, a set-top box and a remote control, the FlipShare TV uses a proprietary wireless standard and accompanying software - which is preloaded onto the USB transmitter itself - to beam content to your big-screen TV.

Flip WiFi camcorder with sliding screen coming 1H 2010

Point-and-shoot camcorder manufacturers Flip are apparently preparing to launch a model with integrated WiFi, according to Pocket-lint's sources.  A spokesperson at Cisco - who bought out Flip earlier this year - has told the site that not only will the new model feature wireless connectivity, presumably to automatically offload content to your home network when in range, but "a large screen that slides to reveal the record and menu buttons underneath."

Cisco FlipShareTV streamer system outed by FCC

The FCC has kindly outed Cisco's latest device, the FlipShareTV, seemingly a companion media streamer for the company's Flip range of point-and-shoot camcorders.  The three-part FlipShareTV consists of a remote control, USB dongle for your computer, and a set-top box, with a basic folder-based browsing structure that can be used to view recorded video that has been transferred from the camcorders.

Flip popularized the tiny camcorder category with its Mino line of camcorders that were cheap and designed to be carried everywhere you go. The Flip line uploads directly to YouTube making them very popular with the video uploading crowd. We have reviewed the Flip Ultra camcorder before here at SlashGear. Flip has announced a new version of its camcorder called the MinoHD 120 that will ship on November 9 from the Flip website with 120 minutes of recording capacity.

Linksys by Cisco have been demonstrating their new Wireless Home distributed media system at CES 2009, a Sonos-rivalling system that includes the standalone Conductor DMC350 with integrated touchscreen control and CD player, the Director DMC250 media player with integrated 50W-per-channel amp, and the Player DMP100 for connection to an existing amplified setup.  Each can access media from across your home network or the internet, together with internet radio.
