Collins America have already reworked their CinemaView displays – best known for offering Mini DisplayPort connectivity suitable for use with Apple’s latest MacBook and MacBook Pro models – despite none of the original monitors being available for sale. The company has dropped the smallest models, the 19-inch CinemaView 19 and 20.1-inch CinemaView 20, and added the 47-inch CinemaView 47, a combination TV and PC, and an external HD TV tuner.

The CinemaView 47 also gets four USB 2.0 ports, and runs at 1920 x 1080 resolution with 500 cd/m2 brightness, a 4,000:1 contrast ratio and 4ms gray-to-gray response time. Its smaller sibling is the CinemaView 24, a 24-inch 1920 x 1080 display again with four USB 2.0 ports and a Mini DisplayPort, with 300 cd/m2 brightness, 1,000:1 contrast ratio and half the gray-to-gray response time.

Finally, Collins America have announced the CinemaView TV, a compact TV tuner box with two HD tuners with picture-in-picture, that can output to either HDMI or Mini DisplayPort. It includes both powered and non-powered 5.1 channel Dolby Digital surround sound outputs, analog and digital audio inputs, and component/composite video, plus an RF remote control.

The CinemaView 24 will go on sale in October this year, priced at $499. The CinemaView 47 and the CinemaView TV will follow in January 2010, priced at $1,499 and $399 respectively.

Want to play with Apple’s new video connection standard, but don’t want to shell out $800? Collins America has announced the first new line of LCD monitors to utilize Apple’s new Mini Display Port standard. The CinemeView LCD displays are made specifically for Macs and the first three models will be available before September 1st, 2009.

The three initial CinemaView displays will be sized at 19 inches with 1440×900 resolution, 20.1 inches at 1650×1050 and 24 inches at 1920×1080. The prices are $299, 399, and $499 respectively. All displays have 3 USB 2.0 ports, a passthrough stereo audio jack, and an all in once cable to connect them to your new Unibody Mac, or desktop. No built in webcam however, and it looks like we’re going to have to live with glass screens, so anyone that doesn’t want glossy is out of luck. The displays are a good semblance of the Apple Cinema Displays with an aluminum and black motif.

Apple made the Mini Display Port free to license soon after the new port was announced. They did this with the intention of allowing other companies and manufacturers to produce products to work specifically with Macs, especially LCD displays. There could be non-Apple computers to utilize the connection standard as well, since the MDP is free to license, and there are no restrictions on product type. Currently, only the most recent refreshes of Apple computers have the Mini Display Port.

Want to get your hands on one? You can make reservations at CinemaView for one.
