First official Apple Store in Hong Kong to open September 24

Apple's first official retail store in Hong Kong will be opening on September 24. The new flagship Apple retail center is being constructed inside Hong Kong's high-profile International Finance Center (IFC), which is a waterfront commercial development with a four-story shopping center of more than 200 premium brand stores. WikiLeaks documents show Apple’s battle with Chinese piracy

It's been a long time since we heard anything from WikiLeaks. Some recently leaked documents have outlined some of the methods that Apple has taken to stomp out piracy over the years in China. The document is a cable from the Beijing embassy that shows Apple formed a team in March 2008 to fight piracy inside the country. Chinese geeks buy more PCs than Americans do

We know that sales of the typical sort of notebooks, netbooks, and desktop computers are sagging while the sale of tablets is booming in the US and other parts of the world. The numbers look good for PC shipments in part because tablets are figured into those figures. IDC has announced that in Q2 2011 Chinese consumers purchased more PCs than Americans did. Apple surpasses Lenovo in greater China sales

For the first time, Apple's sales in greater China have surpassed that of Lenovo, which has been a reigning heavyweight in the region and has also been hailed the fastest growing company in the PC industry for the past seven quarters. Although analysts have been suspecting that Apple's sales would overtake Lenovo in China, it wasn't until Q2 2011 reports were confirmed for both companies that revealed this to indeed be the case. Another Extravagantly Fake Apple Store In China

There's certainly an abundance of knock-off Apple products and fake Apple stores throughout the world, but perhaps one of the most extravagant is this two-story standalone retail location in Zhongshan, China. The store doesn't attempt to use the full "Apple Store" name and is instead called "Sinzd." But, it does copy the aesthetic and proudly displays the Apple logo and is packed with questionable Apple products. Read The Full Story

Faux Apple Store changes name to Smart Store

Over the last few weeks, there have been a lot of photos that have surfaced of some convincing fake Apple Stores in China. There were numerous stores in Kunming that were not official Apple Stores, but some of them really looked like the real thing and some of the workers even though they worked for Apple. Russian Tank Constructed in China for Theme Park in Mongolia

While some call it a copy of the Russian T62, others note that it appears more likely that the maker of this monster saw a Panzer II tank and copied it complete with an M2 Browning .50 caliber machine gun on a completely new looking turret. Regardless, this is a gigantic war tank created by a civilian by the name of Hao JinXi whose private manufacturing enterprise specializes in the production of a certain single type of tourist train. 54 Chinese bullet trains recalled for safety reasons

It hasn't been long since China saw one of the worst rail disasters in the history of the super fast bullet trains that crisscross the country. Two of the hi-speed trains collided killing about 40 people. The tragedy triggered what some say is an unusual wave of critical coverage in the media and public fury. China Discovers 22 More Fake Apple Stores

Well, there are plenty more like it throughout the country and in recent weeks Chinese authorities have been tracking them down. HTC teams up with Unionpay in China for smartphone with mobile payment capability

HTC and China Unionpay have announced that HTC will have a new smartphone on the Chinese market as early as September that supports mobile payments. Unionpay is the only bankcard processing service in China. HTC and Unionpay have reportedly been working together on the mobile payments for about six months. Read The Full Story

Adidas Punching Bag in Shanghai Subway Station [Video]

It's a great day for those that like to blow off steam in public as Adidas has dropped several gigantic punching bags in the center of several Shanghai subway stations for all to fight with. Adidas is promoting the bags as "the first advertisement in history that you can kick, punch, and trample at will" [translated] and each bag is indeed available for the massacring by you and I in the stations as we speak.
