It’s powered via USB on any PC so you can scan on the go, although when used with a seperate AC adapter Fujitsu claim it will scan faster. Anti-skew settings will correct mis-fed pages automatically, and the supplied ScanSnap Manager software can be used to save images as PDFs and password protect them.

The ScanSnap S300 is already available and costs around $300.

The only triple pick in Cherry Picks this year came from Franklin Electronic Publishers and their Speaking Merriam-Webster Collegiat Dictionary 11th Edition, Merriam-Webster Crossword Puzzle Dictionary and the Speaking Spelling Bee.

This device will build a grammar guide with quizzes, word games and lists and is a 5 language translator (English, Spanish, French, German and Italian). It’s also an organizer, a local/world clock, a calculator and currency/metric converter.

The Crossword Puzzle Dictionary is basically a crossword cheat. If you get stuck during your morning you crossword you can pull this out, select your category whether it’s biographical/geographical/etc… It has access to more than 325,000 different “clues” to help you get through. It has a phonetic spell correction, a confusable function which will identify sound a-like words and it has a fill in the blanks function so “f?or?d? will become florida”.

The Speaking Spelling Bee lets you bring the fun of a spelling bee right to the palm of your hand. It was created for kids in grades 5-8 and has three modes of game play: Competition, Practice and Game Show. It has a 7,000 word vocabulary and a 2” LCD color screen. You can also plug it up into your TV and 6 people can play at once. There are two different versions, they are very similar and come in black and white.

The zBoost zPersonal, from Wi-Ex Inc., will repeat and amplify a cell phone signal outside a building to your cell phone inside to help give you that boost you may need to make your important calls. The good part is that it does so without breaking away from the cell carriers network.

zBoost zPersonal supports voice calls, data service and will work with any phone or carrier except for Nextel. The package will give you everything you may need to improve your signal including a small window mount unit and indoor antenna. It’s available right now for around $169

Also available from Wi-Ex was the zBoost Car Unit (YX230). It’s a dual band, bi-directional unit and it works with both 1900Mhz and 800MHz phones with no physical connection. It captures the signal outside and amplifies it inside and it supports voice calls and data services. Like the zBoost zPersonal, it wont work with Nextel but it does work with all others giving your signal a boost up to 10 times the range.

When it is released, some time in the next few months, it will go for around $239. It comes with the bi-directional amplifier unit which is sturdy and lightweight and connects through the CLA.

This is for those that are truly concerned with security. It has a biometric fingerprint scanner and 128-bit AES hardware encryption.

Just so you know, its small, and it works, and the guy assured us that if you remove the hard drive from the enclosure to try and steal the data that way, you had better be able to break 128-bit AES encryption because the drive won’t work outside of the case. There is some pretty hard core shock mounting and it looked like it had a metal case.

That metal case and shock mounting means this thing should be pretty durable for every day travel use. You can pick one up now for anywhere from $169-$299 depending on capacity.

So this FM transmitter takes it a step further, it will transmit your music from your audio source such as and MP3 player just like any other FM Transmitter. But on top of that, it connect, via Bluetooth, to your mobile phone, allowing you to use your phone, this device, and your vehicle’s sound system for hands free use of your phone.

The nice thing about this is that several states already require, and several more have pending legislation requiring you use some sort of hand-free technology while you are driving. Hopefully we can get our hands on one of these and give it a go and let you know how the quality is.

If you want one, they are available now for $100. If we can get our hand on one, we’ll let you know how it goes.

You don’t have to install or setup anything, and the hardware inside this little bugger takes care of everything. Its fast, and you can transfer multiple files at a time.

It cheap and should be available sometime this quarter. If you want one, you can get it for $80, which for that kind of convenience, is worth it.

Or, you can take it the other way, via USB, you can charge those same batteries or more, and this thing comes with 4 rechargeable AA batteries.

Those batteries come pre-charged and work fully right out of the package. If you plan on storing this kit for emergency situations, those batteries will still retain 85% of their power after a year of storage.

It comes with 3 different plugs that work with over 100 devices. You can get it now at some of the more high tech B&M stores for $29.99.

The SlingCatcher is a set-top box that will seamless deliver broadcast, broadband and personal content to your TV. It has two built-in applications, SlingPlayer for TV and SlingProjector.

The SlingPlayer for TV has the ability to “sling” your favorite TV programming to another TV in the house or a TV in a remote location without the need of a PC. The SlingProjector enables you to stream/sync internet and PC-based digital audio/video content from your computer to your PC. It supports most popular sites and media players and internet video players and will automatically find compatible players to stream to your TV.

The SlingCatcher will be out within the first quarter of 2008 and will cost around $250. You can find additional information on this here.

Here are the numbers, for a smartphone, you can get an additional 20 hours, for any other phone, 30 hours, or for a media player, up to 80 hours! That quadruples the life of most media players.

There are several tips available so they should have one for your device, I assume those are sold separately. This thing is both UI and DOT approved, so its good to use, even on the go, and you can pick it up for $30.

This could be the first laptop stand I’ve ever seen that actually works and I could see myself packing with my laptop. Sure there are others, but most of those are pretty bulky, this one literally looks like I could put it in my pocket, I’d definitely have enough space in the pouch on my laptop bag.

It will be available the first of next month, and you can get it in your choice of 3 colors, Eco Green, MacWhite, or Charcoal. Its not too pricey either at $39.95.

That means you can store up to 7 hours of video before you even have to dump it. There are also 2 other recording modes, one of which is a constant bit rate mode that will work with HDV editing apps.

The lens is from Konica Minolta, so you know that’s good, and there is a fairly large flip out LCD. You can get it now, at Best Buy or Circuit City, and it will only cost you $1300.

The Steadicam ultra-lightweight Arm and Vest is designed to support the Merlin camera stabilizing system. It makes extended shooting effortless with heavy (7.5lbs) cameras.

It’s designed to fit any shape/size and can actually be worn under clothes, including a tux. It has a lifting range of 28” with barely no force necessary. It’s tool free which means it can be adjusted “on the fly”.

It’s been on the market since July and retails for around $2000. That’s a low price for the same performance as the big steadicam rigs.

I got a chance to test it out and play with it a little and the best thing I can think of to describe is that it has liquid motion. The camera really does flow effortlessly at just a touch.

This isn’t your run of the mill digital camera, sure it uses and SD card and takes pictures and video, but it does it all at night. Even better yet, it doesn’t use the intensifier tube tech, so that means you can use it in the day as well.

The shots are primarily black and white, but for true night time shooting without a light source of any kind, you can’t expect much more. You can even connect to a video viewing source for viewing real-time night or day video.

You can take pictures from a distance of the length of a football field without any source of light. This would be great for security, hunters, or any other occasion where you need high visibility in a low light situation. If you want one, they’ll be available in march for $799.

Not only is the Vectrix emission free, I can vouch for it’s quietness as I heard nothing when they road it into the ballroom. The Vectrix is available right now and goes for $11,000.

These are quite possibly the best headphones you can get that still fit in your pocket. Sure, you could get some Sennheisers or some Bose headphones, but they are going to be large, and they probably still won’t sound as good unless you spend a few grand on them.

For the money, you probably can’t get a better product. They’ve been available for some time now and they cost a mere $399.99.
