This toaster is actually a charging station for mobile devices

This toaster is actually a charging station for mobile devices

When you really think about it, a toaster would make a great charging station for mobile devices. You could drop multiple phones or mid-size tablets into it, it would keep gadgets standing upright and away from spills and heavy objects being set on top, and it could bake your device to that perfect level of crisp. Well, maybe that last feature wouldn't be so great, but the rest would! The makers of the Foaster probably thought the same, as they came up with a multi-device charging station that looks just like the everyday kitchen appliance.

Znaps magnetic adapter makes charging a snap

Znaps magnetic adapter makes charging a snap

One of the coolest little features that Apple throws at the MacBook is the magnetic power adapter. That means you don't actually have a plug that you have to push inside an opening on the MacBook. The other upside is if you trip on the charge cable of a MacBook you are unlikely to pull the computer off the table or counter, the magnetic charger just pulls away. The Znaps magnetic adapter is very similar to that MacBook charger.

Qi gets a wattage boost to support wireless fast charging

The Wireless Power Consortium (WPC), the folks behind the Qi wireless charging standard, made a pretty big announcement. A new specification of the Qi standard now makes it possible for complying chargers to dish out 15 watts of energy. This is more than just a show of power. This figure means that wireless chargers will now be able to support fast charging, a feature that has so far been the domain of wired chargers. When implemented, this could very well strengthen the appeal of wireless charging systems in general.

Pebble Time teased in Red, charger design done

With the Pebble Time Kickstarter ending with a bang, all that's left is for Pebble to deliver on its promise. Being Pebble, there is perhaps little doubt they can pull that off too, but it's still a good thing to hear an update or two from them. Roto retractable charger is sleek and extra long

Roto retractable charger is sleek and extra long

Carrying around a charging cable generally means wrapping up an individual cord and toting it around with an outlet adapter, or carrying a retractable cord that is more compact but likely to get tangled easily or not be long enough for your needs. Roto is similar to the latter offering, but with tweaks that improve the least-liked parts of retractable chargers — in this case, the connectors lock down neatly into the square body, the cable is nearly 3 feet long, and the design is a mixture of sleek and functional. A built-in clip allows Roto to be attached to a bag or belt loop, or even a key ring if you’re particularly absentminded.

Mophie hops on the Apple Watch train with watch dock

Mophie hops on the Apple Watch train with watch dock

When smartphone users hear the name "mophie", they immediately think of battery cases and charging accessories for smartphones. With the arrival of the Apple Watch, however, it might be high time to change that perception. Sure, mophie isn't making a case for the smartwatch, unlike this rather odd accessory, but it's still probably the closest you'll get to the intersection of mophie and Apple Watch. As the name says, the mophie watch dock is simply that, a charging dock, or rather stand, for your smartwatch, just done in style.

Griffin Cove wants to give devices a home inside your home

Acclaimed mobile device accessory make Griffin has a new product in the works, but it is going about things quite differently this time. The Cove is more than just a charging dock. It is also meant to masquerade as a stylish piece of furniture inside your (presumably stylish) house. It is, so to speak, a home for your myriad mobile devices in your house. But more than just that, Griffin is taking a different spin in actually making the product, preferring to go first to its customers instead of straight into the manufacturing plant.
