Gigabyte has a trio of notebooks for CES, a pair of ultrabooks and a new gaming machine with a 17-inch display and hefty graphics grunt. The Gigabyte U2142 ultrabook has an 11.6-inch display and a convertible touchscreen, running Windows 8 on a 3rd gen Intel Core processor; it not only has a 256GB mSATA SSD, but up to 1TB of regular storage for the best of speed and capacity. Gigabyte S1185 Full HD and S1082 Windows 8 tablets official

Gigabyte has revealed a pair of new Windows 8 tablets, the 11-inch S1185 complete with a Full HD IPS display, and its smaller sibling, the 10-inch S1082. The larger of the two, the Gigabyte S1185, packs an Intel Core ULV processor, up to 8GB of DDR3 memory, up to 256GB of mSATA SSD storage, and both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 connectivity, though it's the 1920 x 1080 IPS display that will probably be most appealing. Vivitar announces new tablets for families at CES 2013

Panasonic expands Toughpad tablet line with FZ-G1 and JT-B1

Panasonic has announced a pair of new tablet computers at CES 2013 that fall into to the company's ruggedized Toughpad line. The tablets include the new 10-inch FZ-G1 Windows 8 Pro tablet and the JT-B1 Android tablet. FCC will crack open unlicensed spectrum to speed up wireless Internet

The FCC has unveiled its plan to open an unlicensed spectrum that it says will relieve a wireless internet traffic jam. The announcement came via the Federal Communications Commission's Chairman Julius Genachowski at CES earlier today. Microsoft IllumiRoom releases virtual gaming from your TV to fill your lounge

Microsoft has revealed IllumiRoom, the latest fruit of its virtual reality research, using Kinect and projection systems to turn your living room into a huge, immersive gaming environment. Martian Passport Watch hands-on: Voice Command and Bluetooth get classy

We've gotten our first opportunity this week to take a peek at the first Martian Voice Command Watch model known as the Passport, able to attach to both Android and iOS via Bluetooth for simple connectivity on the go. This machine was originally part of a Kickstarter project and is just ready for prime-time now, giving users in the field the ability to make and receive calls, read short text messages and reply, and read short messages of several kinds.
