Verizon FiOS TV could hit iPad & more after IP upgrade

Verizon is transitioning its FiOS TV broadcast system over to the same IP delivery technology as its video-on-demand and widgets, opening the door to a FiOS TV app which could allow subscribers to access their services on an iPad or other tablet, smartphone or other device. Verizon exec Joe Ambeault told Zatz Not Funny that, while subscribers won't see any difference in their traditional TV experience, the new system will allow far greater flexibility in the sort of devices FiOS TV is viewed on.

Acer Aspire 5252 and 4253 notebooks adopt AMD Fusion

Acer has outed a pair of notebooks using AMD's Fusion APU processors. The Acer Aspire 5253 and Aspire 4253 hit the 15.6- and 14-inch sizes respectively, and each use AMD's 1.6GHz E-350 processor paired with Radeon HD 6470 512MB graphics. There's also HDMI connectivity for 1080p HD output, along with a DVD burner and optional Bluetooth 3.0.

RIM co-CEO Mike Lazaridis has admitted that it has taken the Canadian company 24 years to achieve their vision of "true mobile computing", and unsurprisingly it's the BlackBerry PlayBook 4G that has managed it. Speaking at a Sprint event at CES 2011 while demonstrating the PlayBook 4G to SlashGear, the outspoken exec joked that "it only took, what, [since] '87: 24 years!"

JVC has unveiled a new line of AV receivers that handle multimedia for vehicles at CES.
