Lenovo IdeaPad Y460 and Y560 get Core i3, i5 & i7 options

Lenovo haven't forgotten about their mainstream home users at CES 2010; the company has unveiled two new models, the Lenovo IdeaPad Y460 and Y560 notebooks, complete with various options from Intel's latest Core i3, i5 and i7 processors.  The IdeaPad Y460 has a 14-inch 1366 x 768 display, Core i3 or i5 CPU, ATI Radeon HD5740/HD5650 graphics and up to 320GB hard-drive, while the IdeaPad Y560 has a 15.6-inch display, Core i3, i5 or i7 CPU, ATI Radeon HD5730 graphics and up to 500GB hard-drive.

Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 and multitouch S10-3t netbooks arrive

It comes as no surprise to see Lenovo launch their latest netbooks, the Lenovo IdeaPad S10-3 and S10-3t, since we've already caught sight of the latter squeezing through the FCC complete with a multitouch display.  That display, Lenovo say, makes the S10-3t the industry's first convertible netbook to use a capacitive, multitouch-capable screen; both models have a 10.1-inch 16:9 display, along with a choice of Intel's Atom N450 1.66GHz or - when it hits the market later in 2010 - Atom N470 1.83GHz processors.

Iomega ScreenPlay Director HD media players announced

Iomega has announced their latest digital media devices, the Iomega ScreenPlay Director HD, ScreenPlay Plus HD and the ScreenPlay TV Link Director, each of which promise to funnel your video, audio and image content onto your HDTV.  The top-spec ScreenPlay Director HD Media Player has 1TB of onboard storage together with an ethernet connection for DLNA streaming playback across a network; there are also three USB 2.0 ports, for plugging in external storage, a USB WiFi adapter or cameras for direct playback.

It supports up to 1080p HD 24fps video playback in H.264, WMV and MKV formats (among others) in addition to streaming YouTube, Shoutcast radio, RSS feeds and podcasts.  The Iomega ScreenPlay Director HD will arrive in the US later in January 2010, priced at $249.

Iomega's new v.Clone app may not have the instant appeal of a shiny new piece of hardware, but it's a pretty neat piece of software that will be included on several of the company's external drives.  Iomega v.Clone aims to bring straightforward virtualization of a primary PC to a home audience, packing a clone of the OS together with all applications, settings and documents onto a removable drive which can later be booted into onto a second machine.

The ZOMM was designed and built to be the worls first wireless key leash.It was created to keep you from losing your keys by emitting a loud sound when your keys and your cellphone stray too far apart.  While that sounds like a great idea, I cant help but think that the limited range of Bluetooth would result in the user turning the device off and thus defeating the entire purpose.

With numerous E-Readers on the market and many more to come at CES 2010 one in particular is trying to stand out from the crowd. Hearst Corp's Skiff digital media system and Sprint are going to be previewing their new 11.5 inch touchscreen e-reader at CES this year. Although there are many competitors, this particular reader has an ace up its sleeve: it has an 11.5 inch touchscreen microfoil display with a resolution of 1200x1600 making this the highest resolution E-Reader ever. It is also only a quarter inch thick making it the thinnest and largest E-Reader as well.

Freescale Smartbook Tablet reference revealed: $200 all-day 3G slate

The Smartbook promise is full connectivity and low price, and if Freescale can successfully sell their new Smartbook Tablet reference design to their OEM partners then it stands a good chance at delivering on both.  The 7-inch touchscreen slate has integrated WiFi b/g/n, Bluetooth 2.1 and optional 3G, and is powered by a Freescale i.MX515 applications chipset based on an ARM Cortex A8 CPU.  Best of all, they reckon pricing could realistically start at under $200.

Lenovo's ThinkPad T410s, T410/T510 and W510 notebooks aren't new, but the company has brought them up to date at CES 2010 with Intel's latest dual-core, Core i5 and Core i7 processors.  The T410s 14-inch ultraportable has a choice of Core i5-520M and i5-540M CPUs, along with the regular choices of HDD or SSD storage, up to 8GB of RAM, WiFi b/g/n, optional Bluetooth, 3G and WiMAX, while the ThinkPad T410/T510 throw the Core i7-620M into the mixture too.
