iphone no serviceAs you’ll undoubtedly know, the SlashGear team – and thousands of our colleagues from the tech community – are in Las Vegas this week to cover CES 2009.  When you attend an event like this, you come expecting certain frustrations; what you might not expect is your phone network to fail and leave many users unable to access voice, messaging or data services.  Yet that’s what happened today, with AT&T’s network undergoing a spectacular fail.

At a CES with fewer than usual slam-dunk gadgets, iRiver’s WAVE HOME still stands out as one of the more interesting developments.  Our demo video with the touchscreen communications and media device is now processed, so make sure to check it out after the cut.  In it, all of the WAVE HOME’s primary features are demonstrated: VoIP calls, messages, internet access, media playback and more.

Samsung is showing off its new touchscreen media player, the P3.  From the looks of it, the P3 seems to be positioning itself as a challenger to the iPod Touch.  Of course, offering the same features won’t be enough to knock Apple down from the top – they need something unique, and they just might have it.  We’ll have more for you after the jump.
