We’d suggest shoring yourself up with salt right now, given how tenuous this mysterious video claiming to have knowledge of an upcoming Nokia smartphone is. Tipped to be the Nokia N87 12MP, the follow-up to the hugely popular Nokia N86 8MP, the handset is said to have a 12.1-megapixel camera along with a 3.2-inch capacitive touchscreen.
Nokia are tipped to be developing at least one 12-megapixel cameraphone that will also include an optical zoom. Sources within Nokia as well as at Carl Zeiss – who are expected to provide the optics for the upcoming devices, as they commonly do with Nokia’s current cameraphone range – have suggested that the high-megapixel handsets will hit the market in 2010.
These days, the Carl Zeiss name tends to be more associated with Nokia cellphone camera lenses than anything else, but the famed optics company has a few other irons in the consumer electronics fire. Latest is the Carl Zeiss Cinemizer Plus video headset which, when it launches in May, will be the first video eyewear to bear the “Works with iPhone” logo.
