Capcom posts strong financial report for Q1 2012

Capcom is looking pretty good at the end of its first quarter for the year, thanks in no small part to the success of Dragon's Dogma. We've known for a while that Dragon's Dogma has passed 1 million units shipped, but today Capcom reiterated that figure - along with the intention of turning Dragon's Dogma into a series - in its quarterly report. Total Dragon's Dogma shipments currently sit at 1.05 million, with the game doing particularly well in Japan.

Capcom Vancouver hit with layoffs

Dead Rising 2 developer Capcom Vancouver has laid off 7% of its workforce, the company announced on Twitter today. However, Capcom doesn't want you to take this as a sign that the studio is trouble, with Capcom Vancouver quick to clarify that the layoffs were "a result of unsuitable fit with the studio goals." It's unclear what Capcom Vancouver means by that, but we think we have an idea.

Capcom's high-definition compilation of its two critically acclaimed Wii Resident Evil titles will be making its way to the PS3 in the US on June 26. The publisher announced that the price will be $26.99 and it will be distributed digitally through the PlayStation Store. Chronicles HD contains Resident Evil: The Umbrella Chronicles and Resident Evil: The Darkside Chronicles.

The company not only announced the game, but also revealed the release date along with a trailer and new artwork. The game will launch for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on November 20, 2012, with a PC version to be released later.

Capcom tied to No Hope Left graffiti campaign, Resident Evil 6 in the wings

Tomorrow is the day we'll find out if it's all true, or if what's true ends up being that Capcom is revealing a new game after their rather strange viral ad campaign "No Hope Left" complete with graffiti, a nameless blog, and video of a woman freaking out. While some of you have been following this campaign for a week or so, it's only today that we're finding out for sure that it's all tied to the gaming group, as Tuffcub from thesixthaxis has successfully sleuthed out. As it turns out, one of the graffiti photos posted this week was taken near this fellow's home, and upon closer inspection he found that it wasn't graffiti at all, but one big hoax.

LG has inked a deal with CAPCOM that will see Street Fighter IV offered on the company's first HD smartphones in Q4 this year, presumably including the LG LU6200 Android handset leaked last Friday. According to LG, the classic game will be offered exclusively via their site for LG device owners for three months, once the first HD-capable Android handsets from the firm are on sale.

Ebullient gamer-glee this morning, as the Resident Evil Revelations trailer leaks ahead of the title's expected official debut at the Tokyo Game Show next week. Headed to the Nintendo 3DS in early 2012, the game is set in-between Resident Evil 4 and 5 in terms of in-story timeline, and will feature - going by this demo at least - a somewhat unimaginative mixture of busty ladies and skintight wetsuits.
