Canon PowerShot G1X leaks: $799 with child-detector

Canon's new PowerShot G1X has been prematurely detailed, a 14.3-megapixel flagship set to be unveiled at CES 2012 next week. Leaked, just like the Fujifilm X-Pro 1, by Wells Fargo, the G1X is being targeted at "advanced amateurs" along with point-and-shoot professionals, toting a 4x (28-112mm) optical zoom and an F/2.5-16 aperture. Canon EOS C300 Digital Cinema Camera revealed [Video demo]

This week Canon has launched a camera that'll seek to be putting Red Scarlet and Arri Alexa in their place. It's the brand new Canon C300 cinema camera and it's been revealed at Hollywood's Paramount Studios where a crowd included journalists and the film industry elite - including no less than Martin Scorsese apparently. This fantastic looking camera has no less than an EF or PL mount (not both, different models,) 1080p video capture, two CF card slot, timecode, and HD-SDI output. Read The Full Story

Canon outs new Pixma Pro-1 printer for photographers

Canon has announced a new printer that is designed to go along with its pro level DSLR cameras. The new printer is called the Pixma Pro-1 and is the first A3+ printer to use 12 separate inks. The high-end model has a design that was inspired by the EOS cameras and has the highest possible print quality in monochrome and color. Read The Full Story

Canon has produced 50M EOS-Series SLR cameras and 70M EF lenses

Canon has announced a significant milestone in the production of the EOS camera series and EF lenses production cycle. Canon has now produced 50 million EOS-series SLR digital cameras and 70 million EL lenses to go with those digital cameras. Production of the EOS SLR cameras started in 1987. Canon EOS-1D X official: $6.8k 18MP DSLR due March 2012

Canon has revealed its latest DSLR, the Canon EOS-1D X, an 18-megapixel camera packing dual DIGIC 5+ processors and Full HD video recording. Weatherproof and targeting professional photographers, the EOS-1D X replaces Canon’s existing EOS-1Ds Mark III and EOS-1D Mark IV DSLRs, adding 61-Point High Density Reticular AF, 14-bit A/D data conversion and 12fps continuous shooting at full resolution (in JPEG mode).

I have a DSLR camera and I am not at all qualified to use the thing for quality shots. I bought it mostly for the much faster shutter so I could actually get photos of fast action without only ending up with an arm or elbow in the shot. When it comes to protests, there’s always one thing that’ll keep you (and your mob) from succeeding in making the United States aware of your cause – protesting the news corporations. Over the past two (or so) weeks, there’ve been protesters in the streets of New York City in areas on and around Wall Street, this gathering named “Occupy Wallstreet” and called for all the way back in the July issue of Adbusters (an anti-consumerist magazine that I just so happen to have a copy of right here) and encouraged by the hackers at Anonymous soon afterword. These protests have been going on since the 17th of September, 2011, and continue to this day where one of the most important factors has come into play: branding.

Adjusting apertures on modern day DSLRs has been relegated to electronic controls that make it difficult to get a smooth transition between aperture settings, which is especially important when it comes to recording videos. Nikon defends 1 Series sensor size compromise

Nikon has defended its design decisions behind the company's new 1 Series V1 and J1 interchangeable lens cameras, arguing that a smaller sensor was a necessary compromise considering the software crunching included. Although smaller than what you'd find in a Micro Four Thirds camera, Nikon UK product planning manager Ken Kusakari told Amateur Photographer, the CMOS sensor in the 1 Series allows for faster image processing and features like Smart Photo Selector. Generally, if you have a printer that lacks printing from mobile devices natively you need an email account you can forward to before you can print them up.
