Gadgets from the past keep popping up, don't they? This time around, we've got the big brother to a camera that jumped onto our radar late laster year. The Cerevo Cam was only sold in Japan, but it featured the ability to upload your pictures to your favorite social networking sites, courtesy of its built-in WiFi and 3G connectivity. This time around, though, things get a little bit more real-time, as the Cerevo Cam Live! now features Ustream capabilities. Read The Full Story

Canon IXUS 300 HS digicam: 10MP with 720p HD & HDMI [Update: US launch too]

, May 11th 2010 Discuss [0]

If we're blunt, Canon's new IXUS 300 HS point-and-shoot doesn't quite have the appeal of Sony's new NEX pair, but it promises to be a whole lot more affordable (and approachable for mainstream users) than the interchangeable lens models.  The IXUS 300 HS packs a 10-megapixel CMOS sensor and a 3.8x optical zoom, and can capture 720p HD footage or 240fps super-slow-motion video. Update: Canon USA have announced the same camera, only as the Canon PowerShot SD4000 IS Digital ELPH.  It'll arrive in the US at the end of May 2010, priced at $349.99. Read The Full Story

Sony NEX-5 and NEX-3 ultra-compact DSLRs debut

, May 11th 2010 Discuss [0]

Sony have delivered on their promise of a new Micro Four Thirds style camera with not just one but two new models.  The Sony α NEX-5 and NEX-3 unsurprisingly bear a striking resemblance to the "interchangeable lens concept" shown earlier this year, and each have a new 14.2-megapixel Exmor APS HD CMOS sensor; as well as stills, that's good for up to 1080i HD video recording on the NEX-5 and 720p on the NEX-3. Still, is it worth $149.99? Check out the full SlashGear review after the cut.

Samsung NX10 Comes in Black and White for a Limited Time

, Apr 30th 2010 Discuss [0]

It's been a few months since we've brought up the Samsung NX10, but now that it's back, apparently Samsung wanted to make sure that it caught all the passer-by's eyes. Because how many simple, boring, one color cameras can you have, right? It's always better to give your customers a little bit of choice. Even if it is just for a limited time. For example, this white and black version of Samsung's mirrorless APS camera. Read The Full Story

Canon AE-1 Digital mod rejuvenates classic SLR [Video]

, Apr 29th 2010 Discuss [1]

As gorgeous camera mods go, this one will take some beating.  An original Canon AE-1 film camera body has been given a new lease of life, after some careful modder injected the guts of a modern 9-megapixel digital camera into the classic chassis.  Paired with a pancake 10mm f/1.4 lens and as many of the original controls left in place as possible, it's a good reminder as to why camera manufacturers keep coming back to retro designs: it seems we just can't get enough of them. Pentax Optio H90 gets reviewed: surprisingly good budget camera

Of Pentax's most recent range of point-and-shoots, the Optio H90 particularly caught our eye with its vaguely 70s stylings.  Over at PhotographyBLOG they've been putting the budget shooter through its paces, and it turns out to be surprisingly capable.  Not only are its 12-megapixel stills decent, it has a broader focal range than similarly-priced rivals and can also record HD video. , Mar 30th 2010 Discuss [0]

With the ease of use and flexibility of digital cameras, how many film-based snappers do you think are still sold?  We don't have figures from across the industry, but according to Leica USA president Roger Horn, less than 5-percent of his company's cameras sold in the US are analog.  Meanwhile Leica UK's managing director, David Bell, reckons that film cameras account for around 6-percent of the company's M-series.
