Blind Camera Test: Galaxy S6 vs iPhone 6 vs LG G4 in low light

Today we're conducting a test which will decide the finest of three of the best-rated smartphone cameras on the market today. We're testing the Apple iPhone 6, the Samsung Galaxy S6, and the LG G4. Today's test will be a blind test, with each photo cropped to the same pre portions as the others in each individual test. Each camera has been set to Auto mode and HDR has been turned off. While the angles at which these photos have been taken are not exact, they're very, very close.

GoFish Cam is an action camera for your fishing pole

GoFish Cam is an action camera for your fishing pole

You can post a picture of your big catch online, but showing the catch as it took place -- that is, from the moment the fish started eyeing your hook -- isn't as simple. Enter GoFish Cam, an action camera of sorts that attaches to your fishing pole and records stabilized footage as you reel in fish. The camera is pill shaped and attached to the fishing line in such a way that the lens points toward the fishing hook, ensuring every moment is recorded.

GoPro to release video-editing mobile app later this summer

GoPro to release video-editing mobile app later this summer

During a recent investors call, GoPro president Tony Bates revealed that the action camera-maker is developing a mobile app that let users quickly and easily edit their footage after it's been shot. Bates added that the app is "in the final phase testing" already, and should be released before the end of the summer. It was clear what platforms the app will hit (though iOS and Android seem likely), but the ability to trim and edit footage almost immediately after shooting will definitely enhance the GoPro experience.

2016 Toyota Tacoma will include a built-in GoPro mount

2016 Toyota Tacoma will include a built-in GoPro mount

GoPro and Toyota have teamed up and as a result the auto maker's mid-size Tacoma pickup truck has a camera mount...one designed to work with GoPro's action cameras. The mounts will come as a standard feature in the 2016 Toyota Tacoma, and mark an industry first. The potential appeal is easy to see: GoPro's cameras are devices one would take on their adventures, and a pickup truck is something one might take off-roading. Pair the two together and the result are some fun, probably muddy video footage.

HERO4 Session teardown cracks GoPro’s latest camera

HERO4 Session teardown cracks GoPro’s latest camera

GoPro recently introduced its new GoPro HERO4 Session, a cube-shaped camera that greatly resembles Polaroid's Cube camera. The Session deviates a fair bit from the other HERO cameras. Aside from being cube-shaped, it features single-button operation and is only a fraction of the regular HERO4's size. Now the folks at iFixit have gotten their hands on the small camera, and they've given us a look inside by busting it open.

PENTAX K-3 II and Nikon D750 service advisories issued

PENTAX K-3 II and Nikon D750 service advisories issued

In April, Ricoh introduced its Pentax K-3 II DSLR camera, and now a couple months later it is issuing a service advisory: some owners may experience issues with the camera failing to shut off even when toggled to "OFF". That presents some obvious issues, but appears to be fairly limited in scope. The camera company has detailed which owners may be affected, and will proceed with repairs if necessary. In addition, Nikon has issued an advisory regarding a shutter problem with some of its D750 cameras.

GoPro HERO4 Session slims action cam but loses 4K

GoPro HERO4 Session slims action cam but loses 4K

GoPro may have updated its action cameras recording capabilities over the years, but it's taken the arrival of the new GoPro HERO4 Session to finally slim things down. 50-percent smaller and 40-percent lighter than GoPro's existing HERO4 Black and Silver cameras, the HERO4 Session can shoot up to 1080p60 video or 8-megapixel stills and is backward-compatible with existing mounts. However, what you won't need is a case, since the Session is waterproof by design.

White House (mostly) ends its ban on social media and photos

White House (mostly) ends its ban on social media and photos

After 40 years of banning photography -- and later on social media -- during White House public tours, the Obama administration has decided to lift the limitation. Michelle Obama announced the change today on the White House's Instagram page, showing the White House's photography ban sign and saying those rules no longer apply. She ripped the sign in half, and thus ends an era, at least for the most part. There are still some limitations on what you can use to snap your pictures.

iPhone 6s camera details leaked: 240fps slow motion

Apple's iPhone 6s and iPhone 6s Plus camera array documents leak from what appears to be their manufacturing plant company, Foxconn. These documents suggest that the next iPhone's camera array will allow the next iPhones to once again reign supreme over the competition. This is particularly important this generation as both LG and Samsung inch ever closer to overtaking the camera crown in the smartphone business. Several reviewers suggest that the companies have already out-done Apple with their own cameras aboard the Galaxy S6 and the LG G4.
