JVC GY-HMQ10 world’s first 4k handheld camcorder due March

JVC has launched the world's first 4K handheld camcorder, the JVC GY-HMQ10, packing a 1/2-inch 8.3-megapixel CMOS sensor capable of recording 3840 x 2160 footage at 24p, 50p or 60p. Priced at just under $5k, the GY-HMQ10 can also output 4k footage in real-time, and has an f/2.8 10x zoom lens with optical image stabilizer, as well as a color viewfinder and 3.5-inch touchscreen LCD.

I have had a GoPro Motorsports Hero HD camera for a long time now. This tiny camera supports HD resolutions and comes with a suction mount for attaching to a car. It's a very cool little camera, with a very confusing menu system. Each time I want to change resolutions I end up digging for the instructions. GoPro has announced a new version of this little camera in three styles called the HD Hero2.

I have flown more than one remote controlled flying what not including helicopters and airplanes. The thing they have all had in common was a very short first flight followed by a horrendous crash rendering a chance of a second flight moot. I can only imagine the carnage and repair bill I would wrap up if I had the chance to fly this drone that a German effects firm made for one of those crazy expensive Red Epic cameras.

Toshiba Camileo X400 and X200 camcorders now shipping

Toshiba's Camileo X200 and X400 camcorders, announced last month, have gone on sale, with a third model - the Camileo X416 - following on come October 10. Priced from $299, the new models each support Full HD 1080p video recording, with the X400 and X416 packing 23x optical zooms and digital image stabilization; the X416 has 16GB of internal storage, and both have SD/SDHC/SDXC card support.

JVC GC-PX10 brings PX1 hybrid camera to US this month

JVC's GX-PX1 hybrid camera/camcorder has found itself a US release date and price as the JVC GC-PX10, with the distinctive big-barreled shooter expected to drop later in October for a hefty $899.95. Capable of shooting both 12-megapixel stills and Full HD 1920 x 1080/60p video at up to 36Mbps, as well as super-slow-motion 300fps footage and more, the GC-PX10 is based around JVC's FALCONBRID processor, and can simultaneously capture 8.3-megapixel photos and Full HD video.

Toshiba outs Camileo camcorders including Clip, X200, and X400

Toshiba has been offering its line of palm-sized camcorders for years now called Camileo. Three new camcorders in the line have been unveiled for the first time. One of the more interesting is the Camileo Clip, which is the camera in the photo below. The cam gets its name from the clip on the back that allows the user to clip it to things for hands free shooting.
