It looks like this year, there will be a new player invited to that annual party. It's been announced that Sony's new PlayStation Vita will receive its first entry in the popular war shooter franchise this year.

Activision says PS3 Call of Duty Elite confusion is not its fault

Activision says PS3 Call of Duty Elite confusion is not its fault

If you thought that signing up for the premium Call of Duty Elite service on your PS3 would get you access to DLC the same time as your Xbox 360 counterparts, well, Activision has no sympathy for you. The publisher says it never made any claims to that effect, and says anyone who thought that was the case "convinced themselves that it would happen because they wanted it to happen."

Modern Warfare 3 beats Avatar for $1 Billion Record

Modern Warfare 3 beats Avatar for $1 Billion Record

This week the folks at Activision and Blizzard are certainly more than just a little bit joyful at the news that their game Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 crossed the $1 billion mark in sales earlier today, this making it the only entertainment property in the world to eclipse the previous record of $1 billion in 17 days as set by the movie Avatar in 2009. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 sets new sales record on launch day

The numbers are finally in from sales of the new Call of Duty game Modern Warfare 3, and as predicted, its Tuesday launch broke the record for opening day sales. On its launch day between the U.S. and Great Britain, Call of Duty's newest installment sold 6.5 million units in one day, that breaking the record with $400 million worth of retail sales. The previous record holder was, you guessed it, the last version of Call of Duty, this one called Black Ops and having generated $360 million in sales on its first day.

Modern Warfare 3 Is What’s Wrong With the Game Business

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is on store shelves. And as expected, it has proven wildly popular around the world. Even better for Activision, the game’s publisher, it was able to succeed just weeks after its chief competitor, Battlefield 3, hit store shelves. As with previous years, Modern Warfare 3’s success is being touted as an entertainment industry marvel. And the vast majority of industry critics have given it high marks, thanks to its outstanding visuals, solid gameplay, and top-notch multiplayer experience.

But I, for one, am not happy to see Modern Warfare 3 succeed. In fact, I think the game is what’s wrong with the gaming industry.
