HP keeping PC business, spin-off axed

After several months of deliberation, it’s been announced today that HP will keep its Personal Systems Group business, this PC Unit to stay in the family for the time being. Just this past August it was announced by HP that the possibility of spinning its PC business off was a real one, but just today it was noted by CEO Meg Whitman that HP will keep all ties to their PSG section as she stated “together we are stronger.” Having toured the Houston HP campus where PCs are tested for quality assurance just a few weeks ago, I can personally say that the force is strong with this one, as it were.

IBM names new Chief Executive, Virginia Rometty

This week it was announced that Samuel J Palmisano will be switching roles from Chief Executive to chairman while Virginia M Rometty will take over the Chief Executive, all of this taking place at IBM. Analysts say that Rometty's lead rival for the taking over of the roll at IBM was Steven A Mills, another senior vice president inside the company who has led the group's profitable and ever expanding software division. Netflix loses 800,000 US subscribers, earnings to dip

CEO Reed Hastings has admitted that the company's recent stumbles, including price hikes and the now canceled plans for Qwikster, were ill received, tarnishing the company's "hard-earned reputation." Microsoft reports record fiscal Q1 2012 earnings

The software giant reported record revenue of $17.37 billion, representing a 7 percent increase from the same quarter the year before. Intel reports record Q3 2011 earnings results

On the same day that Apple posted its somewhat disappointing Q4 earnings results, Intel is reporting the opposite with record-breaking Q3 earnings. The chipmaker surpassed the $14 billion revenue mark for the first time, reporting $14.2 billion in GAAP revenue, which has increased 28 percent from the year before, up $3.1 billion.
