Bungie is showing off seven full minutes of gameplay from their upcoming Destiny title, an immersive first-person shooter set in a dystopian future. In the video, which you can see below, a co-operative assault takes place in Devil’s Lair, or ‘Old Russia’. The video shows actual in-game graphics, and we must say — it’s impressive.

Destiny Beta tied to pre-order this summer

This week it would appear that the earliest players will be able to access the Destiny Beta will be through a pre-order of the game. Users will be conducting a full "public Beta test" of Destiny that will include "most major modes and activities featured in the game" before the retail launch of the game. The team responsible for the Beta launch have suggested that there's a limited time for this release and that it's only "while beta codes last".

Bungie has announced the launch date for its much-anticipated Destiny, which is slated to arrive on September 9, 2014. The announcement was made today on the company's blog, where it waxed poetically about the game's origins and what it means in the grand scheme of things, as well as saying that it'll be using "every moment" up until the launch date to make sure the game meets expectations.

This week we've heard quite a bit about NVIDIA's aim to bring details on their GameWorks development and optimization program to the public, amongst these such high-powered features as OptiX. What Optix represents is an SDK (a software development kit) for the creators of next generation's games - games like Destiny from the developers at BUNGIE. Spilling well into tomorrow's platforms with graphics optimizations today, BUNGIE is taking advantage of the likes of Interactive Ray Tracing, Ambient Occlusion, Procedural Surfaces, and Light Baking.
