Brando flexible microphone for iPhone 3GS announced

It seldom fails to impress me how quickly accessory manufacturers can knock together third-party gadgets for new devices, and Brando is certainly at the top of their game for flooding the market with "do I really need this?" trinkets.  Their latest addition is a so-called "Flexible Mini Capsule Microphone" for the iPhone 3GS, intended to take advantage of the thousands of people now recording dreary YouTube videos on their new smartphone.

The last Brando product to grace these pages - their LCD Bluetooth Vibrating Bracelet - fell more than a little short of impressing us.  Today it's back to basics with a USB cable, but it's actually a cable with a neat in-line difference: Brando have taken a standard USB to miniUSB cable and added an SD card reader.

Brando LCD Bluetooth Vibrating Bracelet for discrete Caller ID

Brando seem to think they've hit on the identity bracelet for the 21st century, in the shape of this LCD Bluetooth Vibrating Bracelet, which hooks up to your cellphone via the Headset or Hands-Free profiles and flags up any incoming calls on its bright blue screen and a buzz to your wrist.  You can then choose to answer or reject them with the bracelet's single button.

Brando Mini Bluetooth Keyboard compatible with PS3

Brando Mini Bluetooth Keyboard compatible with PS3

Brando have taken the tiny wraps off of their latest Bluetooth keyboard, and it's definitely been created with portability rather than usability in mind.  Measuring just 140 x 70 x 12mm, the Mini Bluetooth Keyboard has a 15m range and uses the Bluetooth 2.0 standard, happily connecting to a laptop, smartphone (with the right Bluetooth profile) or even your PS3.

Brando Wireless Illuminated Super Tiny Keyboard

Brando Wireless Illuminated Super Tiny Keyboard

I know how it is; Brando's original Super Tiny Keyboard appeals, but your job watching owls means you need something visible in low-light conditions.  Thankfully Brando have heard your hooting prayers and delivered this, the Wireless Illuminated Super Tiny Keyboard, just 170 x 81 x 15mm but now with some lovely blue backlighting.

Brando USB Notebook Cooling Pad has HDD Slot built in

Brando is known for their many computer gadgets and USB devices, but this one is especially cool. The USB Notebook Cooling Pad is not your ordinary USB-powered computer cooler. In fact, this one features a HDD Slot built right into it.

Super Tiny Keyboard is super small, but not quite ‘tiny’

Super Tiny Keyboard is super small, but not quite ‘tiny’

I can understand the need for a super small keyboard for a mobile device or your laptop. It makes it much easier to take it on the go with you. However, what's the point of a small keyboard if it's just as cramped as the one built into your laptop?

Brando’s food inspired USB drives

If you prefer your gadgets looking extremely edible, these cute little guys from USB Brando would be great. They have everything from your health foods to the slightly more high calorie treats.

Brando Ultra-Smart Cable – USB charger/microSD card reader

This amazing little device from Brando solves so many problems. First it’s compact, and made to go on a keychain. Then it has a microSD card reader so you can change what’s on your cell phone’s card.

Brando SIM-unlock card for iPhone

Apparently the deal with this card is that you slide it into your iPhone and it somehow magically hardware unlocks your iPhone. I am not an electrical engineer, so I can’t tell you how well this thing will work, but if I had to guess, it won’t.

Brando Credit Card MP3 Player

I am sure by now you have probably seen a credit card shaped and sized MP3 player before. Only, chances are good, the one you saw cost a considerable amount more than this one.

Apparently there was another company with such an offering earlier this year and they were retailing a 2GB version for $150, now either they pushed their unsellable product off on Brando like they were the digital version of Goodwill, or Brando just stole their design and made it cheap. Regardless, Brando is offering up their 2GB credit card MP3 player for $42.

Brando webcam-telescope review: disappointing

Honestly, some people just don't know their own strength.  Ellen over at The Gadgeteer acquired Brando's USB Webcam with Telescope (that looks surprisingly similar to the far more entertainingly-named Digital Cowboy from a few weeks ago) and set to work spying on the neighbours and peering long-lensed into trees.

Unfortunately the webcam, which Ellen says "feels like it's made from some kind of laminated paper," proceeded to break, its focus-ring spinning ineffectively like a drunken potter.
