SlashGear Evening Wrap-Up: November 7, 2012

We did it folks - we made it through another election, which means that we finally get a break from those endless political ads. It won't be long before those ads are playing all over the place again, so savor the moment while you can. We found out today that President Obama set Twitter records with that a tweet that was shared more 600,000 times, and Apple was hit with a hefty fine in a case over patents related to FaceTime. Foxconn is saying that it's still having issues keeping up with iPhone 5 production, and Pixar has named a new building after Steve Jobs.

Gearbox issues update to fix Borderlands 2 character sabotage

Gearbox issues update to fix Borderlands 2 character sabotage

It's a good day if you happen to be a Borderlands 2 player, as Gearbox has issued a patch that apparently fixes the exploit some unsavory folks have been using to sabotage the characters of other players. If you're not familiar with this exploit (or you've simply been playing on something other than Xbox 360), it allows other players who enter your game to potentially wipe out your saved characters. Not a good thing by any means, and it's easy to see why Gearbox rushed to get a patch out the door.

Microsoft said it will be giving Windows 8 Pro users a free upgrade to Media Center, while Steven Sinofsky talked up the company's new products, managing to get a couple of shots in at Apple at the same time.

Borderlands 2 hackers “sabotaging characters” on Xbox 360

Borderlands 2 players seem to be leading an uneasy existence. First, they had to deal with that nasty rank reset bug, which deleted badass rank and the perks associated with it across all characters, and now, those playing on Xbox 360 are having to deal with a few unsavory folks. Gearbox has warned Borderlands 2 players on the Gearbox forums of a few individuals who are sabotaging others' characters through the use of an (obviously) malicious exploit.

Borderlands Legends lands on iPhone and iPad later this month

You may be busy taking on Handsome Jack and his Hyperion goons in Borderlands 2 at the moment, but a new ad in the game's digital strategy guide suggests that the Borderlands franchise will be getting a new mobile installment later on this month. Dubbed Borderlands Legends, gamers will take on the role of the original Borderlands characters - Brick, Roland, Mordecai, and Lillith - once more as they fend off wave after wave of enemies. Unfortunately, details on the game are still pretty slim, seeing as how Gearbox has yet to make an official announcement.

Welcome to Thursday evening, folks - just one more work day and the glorious weekend is here once again. This afternoon we heard that both the iPad Mini and the 13-inch Retina MacBook Pro - neither of which officially exist yet, remember - have been delayed due to problems with component yields, but not long after, analysts were saying that the MacBook Pro with Retina Display is still on track to launch this year. Apple has managed to delay the ban of the iPhone and iPad in South Korea, and we learned that the company's new dock connector is nearly impossible to mod in a new teardown.
